Alderweireld has kept rather quiet in recent months amid plenty of chatter about his future.

If you saw the headline and thought this was going to furnish you with the answer to the only question anyone really cares about, is he planning on leaving this summer?, then you will be disapponted!

Mate theyre home by 1pm most days...bet they see a lot more of their families than you, me and 99% of people.@davidmatzdorf, thanks for the disagree, genuinely. It made me read the brief article! He is such an intelligent footballer that we, maybe, sometimes forget that footballers may have a high degree of intelligence and compassion too. Made me feel a bit more sympathy for footballer in general to remember that they don't really have a Christmas and miss out a lot on family life!

Yeah I think think your over egging it mate, in fact it's just egg.Well, not so sure about the 1pm most days, especially if those days are mid-week the kids are at school and maybe the missus at work. The point is that they miss the holidays that are normally times for families to be together. Agreed they get paid bloody well for it, but for a footballer who is a real family man it can be hard. I can relate to it, having done shift work for 22 years and had to work bank holidays and all. I missed most Christmasses and Bank Holiday weekends when the kids were growing up. You can never get them back!
Edit: Bear in mind as well that Poch does double and triple sessions when he doesn't have mid-week games!
Edit 2: OK, maybe I'm over-egging the omlette, but missing out on the important holidays is certainly emotionally painful. I've been there!

They're extremely lucky to do what they do, regardless of the money.
Living near the training ground I used to see them all coming out of training every day at about one o clock, plus I think the double and triple sessions are only in pre season.
You make it sound like they're working down a mine for weeks at a time, or squaddies being deployed lol.
You'll have to forgive me for offering absolutely no sympathy for their plight.
Yes we should feel really sorry for footballers, they are really hard done to...
There are many folk like nurses who do 12 hrs shifts and don't get xmas off, people in the armed forces who have to spend xmas in a different country than their families... etc etc …. they cant retire at 30 with millions in the bank, they have to slog it out till they retire and get little thanks for it.
why would anyone aspire to be a footballer having to work in those harsh conditions, such a tough life.
...and the horror of having to play golf every day upon retirement at the grand old age of circa 35.
If you listen really carefully you'll be able to hear me playing the worlds smallest violin!Yeah, OK. Gimme a break, I had a few last night 'cause I'm now away for a week and the missus can't come with me, so I'm feeling sorry for myself. I did have to work shifts over Christmas for 22 years and it wasn't fun, so I tend to be a bit sensitive about that sort of stuff!
But even a double or triple session does not add up to an 8 hour day, and I usually work 10-12 hour days. let's be serious here.Well, not so sure about the 1pm most days, especially if those days are mid-week the kids are at school and maybe the missus at work.
