If he is getting 150k per week, then the apparent release clause demands could well disappear.
If it doesn't? If he wants 150k plus a clause?

While I agree in principle, it would mean setting that money aside EVERY year. And that means we would have tied our hands regarding potential signings, as that is the bracket we tend to circle around. Seeing as our financial model is hailed as one of the best/most sustainable, I would argue that if someone simply wants a bigger paycheque, they can F... right off. It's not like thay are on the dole here. That’s true. Kane, Lloris, Dele, Eriksen, Sonny, Jan will undoubtedly be looking a similar increase. Which brings me back to my original point that I’d prefer us to set aside 20 - 25m to increase the salaries of our current top performers rather than spend that money taking a gamble on another Clinton N’Jie type.
I know it's a modern thing. But I'm not comfortable with this 'release clause' that's in the game now. They lead a charmed life as it is. It's like a prenup, it doesn't bode well for commitment. If it doesn't? If he wants 150k plus a clause?
