Quite well is right, but it’s hard to win comps without him. He makes our defence special, and is the difference in those big games against the best clubs. Couldn’t have seen us losing to Juventus that night with him playing on form.

From what I saw the display he put in against Rochdale he rusty and not match fit so I'm not sure how he would have made a difference against Juve

I blame Liverpool for this mess. No cb should be dreaming of earning the 150k he seems to want, yet van diyk getting 180k has told alderweireld to get one last contract on this sort of level. He probably thinks he's being generous asking for just 150k.

Martinez is a fud.

Fud: Toby are you fit ?
Toby : Yeah
Fud: Spurs, Toby is 100% fit, he says so.

Fuck off.

There's fit and then there is Poch fit, he might be fit by Martinez's standards but it's not really the same thing

If he wants to switch a family atmosphere where mutual respect is the dominant factor, for a collection of over-paid prima donnas, then there's the door Toby my man.

You forgot a shit load of cash(y)

This was going on before the Van Dyke transfer.

Course he's fit, he was on the bench last match against Swansea. Everything else is speculation, spin, or bullshit.

We've learnt nothing new about his contract situation. He'll probably leave in summer but life will go on.

I'd hate to see him leave, but if he wants out he'll go. As long as he is NOT sold to a PL rival it will be ok, but I really don't hope we'll make another Walker-style deal with our rivals. City's defence was vastly improved with him in the side and we just cannot make a habit of improving rivals if we want to be serious competitors.

...and there is fit to play a friendly against Saudi Arabia.
Ledley is fit enough for that fixture.

Sometimes our transfer policy baffles me.

Whilst I agree that the club shouldn’t be held to ransom by any player, Toby is the leader of our pack, the rock at the heart of our defence.

The club seem happy at times to spend big money on gambles such as Njie and Nkoudo. They even spent 30m on Sissoko FFS!!

Rather than spending big on another ‘one for the future’ surely it makes sense to put that transfer money into securing the futures of our current, proven stars.

The clubs being linked with Toby should tell the club everything they need to know. He is one of the best in the world so find the extra 5m per year and get him tied down!!

The same goes for Harry, Hugo, Dele, Eriksen and Sonny!!

It's not baffling it's sensible, we shouldn't be held to ranson by anyone and rightly to, sends out entirely the wrong message besides we've coped pretty well without Toby this season so a loss but not a massive loss.

Hasn't been anywhere near as good as the previous season when he has played IMO. Foyth doesn't look far off being able to step up, particularly on the right side of a back 3. If Toby goes we need a left sided CB to cover Jan, or at least one who can do a job there like DeLigt.

How many times does it need to be said that it 'apparently' isn't just about wages? He is 'apparently' insisting on something we are not willing to give, the release clause. It's not a case of "Just pay him what he wants".

He already has a release clause which is well below his market value. Hence he is in a strong position. Foyth and Sanchez have looked very good but nowhere near Toby’s level. Personally I think we’d be still in the CL and wouldn’t have conceded both goals against the dippers had a fully match fit Toby been playing. I reckon he is more than worth an extra 5m per year considering what he brings to the team. If he is getting 150k per week, then the apparent release clause demands could well disappear.

If he gets 150 the unrest will be infectious

That’s true. Kane, Lloris, Dele, Eriksen, Sonny, Jan will undoubtedly be looking a similar increase. Which brings me back to my original point that I’d prefer us to set aside 20 - 25m to increase the salaries of our current top performers rather than spend that money taking a gamble on another Clinton N’Jie type.

He is fit but if we want sanchez to gain experience then he needs to play from now on.

That's not how it works, if you increase the baseline of the 'main' players then that's going to piss the other players off and create a division in the team, you're going to have to increase the wages of the rest of the squad.
