He's also thinking about the World Cup... Last thing he wants is to return to early and make it worse, and risk that spot in Russia.

Let's be honest - It's an absolute fkcing disaster. He really is the foundation of all things good about Spurs in the past two years.
Top 4 is high unlikely just based on this news.
As Pogba said - wouldn't it be nice if some of the other big clubs suffered injuries to key players.
Painful painful news.

It really highlights just how much it 's the 1st team strength that we are riding on. As soon as a few of the core players pick up knocks or form dips we begin to struggle. Also it appears we cannot play on all fronts (EPL and CL and the lesser cups)

We need investment in the squad to be able to compete with the other big teams in the league.

We shouldn't be too disappointed if we squeezed a 4th place and get a good CL run this season.

I thought it wouldn't be this bad without him... This is crushing news...

In principle, yes, but it isn't "a few", it's been all of them except Eriksen at one point or another. We haven't been able to field a complete first-choice 11 all season, usually nowhere near one:

Lloris, Rose, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Dembélé, Winks, Lamela, Dele (suspension) and Kane have all missed meaningful time.

That's just a ridiculous injury list: 9 key players. You can't cover that unless you're a megabucks team that can attract a whole second 11 that's as good as your first. We'll never be able to do that, even with a 61k stadium.

So the point about "investment" is moot. We did invest: we acquired Sanchez and Aurier. We're very fortunate that one of them has hit the ground running to the extent that Sanchez has done. I would have expected those two to become regulars next season.

People focus on our difficulty breaking down defensive teams, but that was just as much the case last season. I think the difference has been in defence. Last season we would usually keep a clean sheet in that kind of game and one goal would win the match against a dour opponent. This season we are often conceding early goals and playing catch-up.

My observation is that the single biggest problem has been the absence of Wanyama. The defence still plays pretty well most of the time, but it hasn't had that obdurate, impenetrable look of last season, even before Alderweireld got injured.

We coped adequately without Wanyama until we lost Toby. Being without both leaves too many holes. Dier can't do Wanyama's job, because he's stationed on the right of a defensive three. Dembélé can't play 90 minutes. Winks is great, but he's not a dedicated stopper or spoiler. So we don't have the same degree of protection in midfield and we've lost our best defender.

It's been a frustrating sequence of matches, but I really do think it has been 70% the result of the destabilising injury issues.

So we get Rose and Lamela back after long term injuries and now Alderweireld is out long term. Shitty shit.

Is there Sun in Scotland..lol. I haven’t seen this reported elsewhere. I think the ket here is. That IF he tears the muscle it will require surgery. Our medical our monitoring the situation and he will have a scan in 2 weeks. If all is ok I expect him back by the end of the year. Fingers crossed.
Regarding some of the comments on Wanyama I have to disagree....we do miss him, he was a key player last season and the early part of this before his injury. The sooner he is back the better. He plays by example and is a solid rock in this young squad.

So to sum up, he's not out until April. That will only be the case if he rushed back now and tore the muscle. He was doing gym work on his legs in Diers latest instagram, so I doubt he's months away.

This is an excuse from him, he's moonlighting as a painter and decorator and working in Lewisham, this is just another angle to get a pay rise.

I thought that this season was going to a write off because of having to play at Wembely. What’s so annoying is that we finally got that monkey off our backs, only to be completely effed by injuries.

We’ve still got some quality in this squad, so they need to refocus (especially Ali and Eriksen) and get back to winning again in the Prem, starting at home to Stoke on Saturday!

I don't think we really have "got the Wembley monkey off our backs", not entirely. The press stopped focusing on it as soon as we won a couple of Champions League games, but that's because they deal in streaks, stereotypes and gimmicks, as opposed to real results.

Last season's home form was freakish and had a great deal to do with it being the last season at WHL, but we haven't matched even a more typical season's home league form at Wembley, certainly not what we should expect from our current, superior squad.

Our home league form has been relatively consistent over the past few years:

2011/12: 2.211 points/game
2012/13: 2.000 points/game
2013/14: 1.895 points/game
2014/15: 1.737 points/game
2015/16: 1.895 points/game
2016/17: 2.789 points/game
2017/18: 1.714 points/game

That's the worst home league form in at least seven years.

The situation has just gotten worse by Sanchez getting himself sent off for elbowing an opponent too. What a plank. He needs a good hard talking to by Pochettino about shit like that. He's got to cut it out. It's not as if we've got loads of top quality back up at centre back is it.

Is anyone as cynical as I and think this may be Toby pushing for his pay increase and he wont play for us again if he doesn't get it?

Just saying:love:
