The Times claim today the Belgium international was seeking a new deal worth an eyewatering £150,000-a-week before talks with chairman Daniel Levy hit the skids at the start of the year.

If he was at a club that regularly paid those wages no-one would bat an eyelid.
I'd say he is worth it on a 2 year contract.

'eye watering'
no agenda there then.
he should be one of the top earners at the club
both on performance and experience.

IMO Foyth's performances have weakened Toby's bargaining position. It doesn't seem anywhere near as daunting to lose Alderweireld now that we have seen how Foyth is developing. I'd like to see Toby sign a new deal though, not least to preserve his transfer value.

Eye watering to who exactly?!
Makes him one of top paid at club, but paltry figures compared to what some mediocre players are getting elsewhere nowadays.
Definitely media driven agenda - again

He doesn't look anywhere near the player he was a few seasons ago but I think he is coming back to form. Just pay him, we wouldn't be able to bring in a replacement for less wages of the same quality. Davinson, Jan, Toby and Foyth is a great collection of CBs to have, no need to break them up. Allows us to improve in other areas of the pitch like central midfield where we are desperate for a couple signings.

Just give it him. Gives us 4 CB’s locked in and we don’t have to spend the money on a replacement.

Were you on the beer last night...? :) As much as I would love to see Foyth become a world class defender I don't think his two appearances so far will have Toby reassessing his position. He's one of the best defenders around, and after Foyths two pen debut we are lucky he didn't lop another £30k p/w on his demands!

He won't be a direct replacement, Sanchez is the replacement for him with Foyth 3rd choice.

I think Foyth has the potential to be a top class defender, played well on his debut despite the 2 pens which for one of them I don't entirely blame him for and had a MOTM performance against Palace.

He seems to be highly rated by Poch and has been called up by Argentina as well, I think we have a player on our hands that could go some way to replace Toby.

I guess that's fair comment if you want to concentrate on the 2 pen performance rather than the MOM performance straight afterwards.

Exactly this!

His demands are not rediculas, just can we pay players 150 k a week? Man City prob have more 300 k a week players than we do over 100 k

My point about the £30k is the kneejerk reaction that we could afford to lose one of the very very best defenders about based on 2 PL starts from a 19 year old... I like Foyth and would love him to make it but lets be honest it is ridiculously early to be making statements like that. If we take up the extension on Toby giving us just under 2 yrs to integrate Foyth and see if he really has what it takes then yes we could be ok (rather than stumping up a 3-4yr £150k p/w contract now) but that is a huge if...

i'm not sure he is worth that based on last 12months, but hope there is a way to get to a figure that is attractive to him (bearing in mind ITK have told us some interested clubs baulked at his wage demands) based on incentives & performance. if he can be the player of 2 seasons ago for the next 3 years, then we need to push the boat - hope Poch guides Levy on this

Just pay him FFS. He would still be well below Kane by all accounts, and he's up there with Lloris etc. as the most senior player in the squad.

Remember our wages are highly performance incentivised with the biggest bonuses in the prem. This is the way it should be. So paying him £150k a week is only half the story.

Will leave it to levy and co to work out how much we should pay him. Also remember that premier league ffp limits how much you can increase your wage bill each season.

I think that's the problem, Kane apparently earns what Toby is asking for.

Not privvy to any of this info or who earns what but I'm sure we'll do our best to keep him but if he doesn't want to sign then that's that I guess.

ITK stated that there was a contract like that on the table but he hasn't signed. That may or may not be true. I think that length of contract could be a major issue as it seems to be with Dembele who we are apparently happy to let go rather than offer him 3 yrs. IMO we're pretty well stocked at RCB with Sanchez, Dier and Foyth, and, let's be honest, Toby hasn't looked anywhere near the player he was 18 months ago.

He’s had 2 good games, let’s not start expecting him to all of a sudden be on par with Toby.
