The Argentina Under-20 forward signed for Spurs this summer, having quickly risen from regional football in his homeland.

Alejo Veliz might have been wondering why all the fuss.

The 20-year-old from Argentina had just made his Tottenham Hotspur debut in the 2-1 win over Liverpool last month and all anyone could talk about was the referee and VAR decisions that had overshadowed the game.

Just heard Tim Vickery on LWOS podcast say that Veliz is a decent player but not really anything special.

Rosario are a midtable side and he wasn't a starter in a really weak league. But he's young and he's a unit.

Not a slight on Veliz only because Argentina have produced some exceptional players especially in the number 10 role but seem to struggle to produce really top quality number 9s. Historically, I can only think of Batistuta, Crespo and Aguero over the last 30 years who were clinical finishers.

Tim Vickery is an expert on football culture, not football itself imo, he's missed too much on his player predictions.
Argentina will look to their sexy talents to receive their adulation, not a big guy up top.

Let’s hope he proves people wrong, and becomes a huge success at spurs.
