Hi Guys,

Spurs have recently been linked with a move for Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo. We've cast an eye over the former Barcelona full-back to see what he'd bring to the Spurs side.

"Often likened to Alba while at the Camp Nou, the Spaniard possesses many of the same qualities as the World Cup winner. He effectively plays two positions from left-back; defending resolutely and bombing forward to support the attack

A midfielder in his early playing days, Grimaldo still demonstrates some of the innate knacks he had at the start of his career and, unlike Alba, will happily come inside to join the midfield when Benfica are in possession.

He is still happy hugging the touchline and going one-v-one, but there is more than one dimension to him when attacking."

Cheers,

Sam

I know very little about him but i was under the impression that he was very injury prone ?

Bad enough in that league but fatal over here.

He's everything you'd want in a modern day attacking fullback..great deadball delivery too

"but the fact Pochettino refuses to select him regularly points to a rift between the two."
Oh dear, Poch must have fallen out with Davies, Trippier & Aurier, too. Either that or he's carried on rotating his fullbacks, same as always.

I am still hoping for Ryan Sessegnon to be signed as LB. However, Sessegnon maybe be more of an attacking player in the making and may do "Bale" and become a wide attacker (I have not seen enough of himself to claim he will).

Rose seems to be getting along just fine right now. Hopefully his situation has turned a corner and we wouldn't need Grimaldo.
One guy I hope we go all out for is Kondogbia. The only CDM who I feel can do what Dembele does and is much much better going forward.

No. I sold him off because I was pissed with him IRL!

United came in and offered 30m and that triggered a buyout clause which I didn't know he had. Was pretty annoyed to lose him for such a small amount.

Funny that. I think I got between 40 and 50 million for him.

Caught the odd Liga NOS game this season, where they tend to just show Benfica and Porto, sometimes Sporting. Grimaldo is a very good player! Very attacking and not shabby at defending either, the comparisons to Alba are spot on imo, he could be absolutely lethal in a back 3/5.

I wouldn’t want us to sell Rose for harmony reasons along with it being a huge statement. But if push came to shove and we had to, then this guy I think would be as close to a quality replacement as we can get! £18m is a steal in this market too, wages won’t be big either!

I’m all for it, so long as he doesn’t end up being the next Alberto Moreno!
