Haven't seen another thread on him, apologies of there is.

Scored 4 goals today, been linked to the goons and bin dippers by ITK. Has anyone seen a lot of him. Is he that good? I hope he is but my concern is he appears to be nowhere near the first team yet Carroll, Falcque etc get a chance.

Thoughts?

Who was that game against? Heard it was 8-1!

Not sure why you're concerned that an 18 year old isn't in the 1st team squad yet. Falque is 23 so if he doesn't start making an impact soon then questions need to be asked.

A season in the development squad and taking it from there seems reasonable enough. Not every talented player was a teenage wonder-kid.

Pritchard is 20 in may, Mason and the rest of his age group will be 22 this year.
These aren't kids anymore, they are seniors ready for first team football and either have to play or move on.

If a player is any good he should be in first team by age 20.

That's too easy though, what if a club has 3 20 year old strikers of same quality.
There's not enough game time for one of them even if he's same quality level as the two others.
Is he then not good enough? Like Gary Cahill wasn't good enough for Aston Villa at that age so they gave him away.
Gareth Bale is in Alex Pritchard's position at Spurs, bench is filled with seniors like Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Falque, Townsend etc.

Lots been mentioned about this kid/youngster. Seems his head may have been turned and we may lose hIm. By all accounts he seems to have all the qualities to succeed at the highest level. He also has a eye for the goals. Pity we did not try earlier to tie him down to a long term deal.

People have this idea that as soon as a young footballer hits a certain age he should be able to step up and play first team football, thats a ridiculous notion. Everyone develops differently, both physically and mentally. Just because Wayne Rooney, hit the ground running at 17 doesn't mean they all do, especially not at the kind of level we are looking to compete at.
Gareth Bale is an example of this, decent enough for Southampton in the Championship but struggled to make the step up fully at first once he joined us. Aaron Lennon could be put into this category, took a while to add certain aspects of his game as he developed into the player he is now. Cristiano Ronaldo was a slow developer a United, he wasn't anywhere near the player he is now.
Had a lecture at Uni last year by David Burke the DoF at Brighton who coached at Lilleshall, he said the best player he has ever worked with regardless of age or club/set up was Leon Knight, who would've been 16/17 at the time, look how his career panned out.
