"Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Alfie Mawson from Swansea City in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Tottenham will make an offer of £15 million in order to secure the services of Mawson.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly been in touch with Swansea regarding the transfer of the 23-year-old central defender."

Again. It is the S*n so take it with a bit of salt.

Thoughts?

I think he's better than Maguire but I think it's early days with him yet.
Same. High ceiling on the guy but he's not a clear starter for a top PL team. But it is definitely something he could grow into so he'd be the perfect understudy for Jan and Toby

I'm Welsh and keep an eye on Swansea, he's decent with the ball but the big thing is he fights for every little thing, right little warrior, would fit in but Swansea would want more than £15 Mil for him.

I really like Mawson and hope we sign him. He's not the most talented footballer or a natural athlete but he's strong and determined and brave. I think he could be a bit of a Harry Kane type player who is willing to work hard to improve his game, and while he's far from the finished article with a couple of seasons under Poch he could be a real gem. He's also a nightmare for opposing defences from set pieces and scored 4 goals in 25 premiership appearances last season which is as many as all our defenders together managed (and 50% of those were in our last game against Hull) :wideyed:.

From what I have seen, yes.

He looks ideal for Spurs. Excellent ball playing CB, got a few goals this season as well if memory serves. Surprised if we get him for 15m though.

Saw him a bit when he played for Wycombe on loan a couple of years ago. Looked good then but that was in division 2. He didn't look very quick at that level though!

He seems like a good player but I haven't watched him that much. The general buzz around him seems very positive. Why would swansea sell though?

I wouldnt call him 'ball playing' myself, this term is getting banded about too easily these days. When I've seen him he doesnt look comfortable on the ball.

Would be a cracking little signing if Wimmer were to leave. Like others have said he is very tenacious. £15 mill seems about right in the current market.

He's inferior in all departments against Vertonghem and Alderwiereld. Is he an upgrade on Wimmer..Not sure. If he came it would be to bolster squad and I'm unconvinced he's any better than Carter -Vickers..

I'm also concert that he's not particularly quick or comfortable with the ball at his feet..

It's fairly obvious that if he were to be brought in tho it would be as a long term project. Not to be slotted in immediately in a starting 11.

Right now he is definitely inferior to Toby and Jan. But he has enough potential to become on their level at least with the right coaching
