Pochettino’s side showed the kind of intensity required for a Europa League comeback but fell short after their midfielder’s red card against Gent.

The match reminded me of Chelsea last year.

They lost their composure and indiscipline crept back in, our performance then suffered.

We haven't learnt yet.

Alli needs a firm talking to, he cost us last night.

Dyer lost his head and the last few matches looks like he has gone backwards.

Davies has me worried every time he plays.

It's not all bad though, if you give us a 2nd place finish in the EPL and a day out in the FA cup final in Wembley, we'd possibly forgive you lot.

But please! Learn from these failure.

It was infuriating to watch a gifted player lose his cool like that when his team needed him the most. I've seen Messi get hacked all over the pitch, particularly in the Classico & he still has the fortitude to let his football do the talking.

Don't blame the manager at all for yesterday; he picked the strongest squad in our best formation, but poor finishing & decision making did us in the end.

The loss will hopefully galvanise the players & I am praying that we don't get any more injuries to key players because the back up isn't good enough.

Messi is the greatest footballer of all time and known for his "coolness"
Alli is young and gifted.
Poch handled it right. Alli is getting better and more disciplined.

Temperament seems to be a bit of a problem with Ali. The tackle last night was reckless and worthy of a red card. He has to cut it out of his game. Poch needs. to have a quiet word with him. He is no doubt a talented player and still young but has a lot to learn about discipline that is where the manager and the rest of the coaching staff come in. We more than likely would have gone through if he had not been sent off, He will know that and hopefully learn a valuable lesson.

That's precisely the point. Alli won't be a top top player till he stops letting his temper hurt the team.
I fully expect opposition players to target him by niggling him, or having a dig here and there followed by a few verbals because they will all know he has a short fuse, and we all know there are a few fixtures left this season where the potential for things to boil over is high.

We don't fold under pressure

When you look at our losses and especially when we have played the so called "top four" we have indeed collapsed under pressure. Be in denial all you want but what you see at Liverpool and away to Man Citeh is a default of ours.

Mid-table sides that come to WHL and soak up our pressure and sit deep in their own half is one thing, but a side that stands toe to toe with us is another issue altogether.

We have to find a way to outplay them if we want to win anything in this game.

As the game went on I did think of Chelsea last year. Alli made a mistake, it's forgivable but he must show he can learn or every team will plan to wind him up. When Wanyama scored I thought we'd get the next goal and escape. Easy to focus on Alli but in the tie we gave away three poor goals and that gave us a mountain to climb. We weren't awful at Wembley but we should have got a better result in the first leg. Really hope we'll learn because we still need to.

when the pressure is applied to this team,
it folds like paper !
Don't know why you have so many disagrees to this. Must win games we blow, time and time again. We won't win the fa cup this year, we will blow it before then

It was a fifty fifty tackle though the aggression of Alli was such that he had to get the tackle right and the risk did not pay off. It was not like the Chelsea game, we played better after the incident and it was our poor finishing that ruined us.
This year we have a lot more injuries and we can see that there is not the quality in our back ups that top teams have to have. We have really missed Lamela - he was our energy in the team and relentless defending from the top. We struggle playing against high energy teams this season. We also severely miss Rose who also has high intensity levels. We need back ups with similar energy

I'm struggling to reconcile this with the performances against Chelsea and City, particularly the away game against City.

Sure we were second best in that match, but we came back from a 2 goal deficit.

That is not folding.

We've been beaten, but that doesn't equate to the same thing.

I think that's a bit glass-half-full. We do compete toe-to-toe sometimes. Chelsea and Man City at home, for instance. In anyone's book, they were superb results. And we're certainly not going to win all our games against the top teams; that's why they're top teams; they have the will and the wherewithal to win.

But you're right. We still haven't quite got that inner steel we need if we're going to win anything. We've got rid of the inner fragility we've had for the last thirty years. We're stronger now, just not strong enough.
