Raul spent 1 year at Atletico Madric, when he was 11. Then he went to Real Madrid. I think it is fair to say that joining Madrid at the age of 12 is enough for them to take credit for him as a youth product.

Raul joined RM at the age of 15

even if it was 15, my point is still valid. any club who develops a player from the age of 15 onwards should be able to call that player their youth product. As far as I'm concerned, the club who that player makes his debut in football for is the club who are responsible for having brought him through.

kind of flawed isn't it? take for instance mbark boussoufa from anderlecht.

went through the ajax academy from 1996 to 2001, snapped up by chelsea when he was 17 who were in a financial crisis and promised him first team action and a professional contract.

never made his debut for chelsea however because abramovich came and spend with millions, went to aa gent in 2004 and finally made his debut then in a professional match aged 20.

everyone regards him as an ajax talent, after spending 6 years at de toekomst. but according to your standards he should be considered an exponent of aa gents academy even though he has never played for any of their youth/reserve teams :p

sure raul can be seen as an exponent from real madrids academy, but atletico can also claim to.

to me both clubs can, however atletico deserve more credit since they were the first to 'discover' him.

I know I didn't put my point across brilliantly, but I think I'm being deliberately misconstrued here. I think a young players development between 15 and 17, when football all of a sudden goes up a notch in competitiveness, is far more relevant than that which happens before it, ero, Madrid are the ones who developed him at the crucuial stage, took a chance on him, etc etc. Being the first to discover means very little. On that basis Spurs could take credit for David Beckham, and that would be insane.

adan is their 3rd goalkeeper and wont be in the 25 man squad for la liga.

valdes,,puyol, muniesa, messi, bojan, xavi, iniesta, pedro, and maybe jorquera all we be in the 25 and that is the reason we will win la liga again

I agree with BBLG. 1 year at Atletico compared with 16 years at real from age 15 is incomparable.

Real made him the player he is, not Atletico.

Phil Brown reckons he`ll have him in the bag very early this week.Suggests even early enough to play in the game against us.

if he's that good they would probably kept him instead of van nistelrooy who's still injured, but i kind of have the same irie feeling that he might surprise a lot of people.

looks like he is having a medical at sevilla

So where's Luis Fabiano going?

Unless Fredi Kanoute is coming back to the Lane...

I seem to remember Kanoute playing on the right wing for the Spammers with Defoe & DiCanio up front, under a certain 'Arry Redknapp...

That's a nice strike trio Seville have there now.

Wonder how they'll accomodate them all though?

Although Kanoute will probably be away at the African Cup of Nations in January so he'll definitely be needed around then.

Still wish we'd got this dude instead of Crouch, although I guess there is always a risk he wouldn't settle into the English League and lifestyle.

15 million euros on a 4 or 5 year deal. sorry read sport after a long night on south beach..

madrid have a buyback option the first 2 years of the contract believed to be 18 milllion.

good signing and gives them a little more firepower to challenge atletico for 3rd.

to be honest I think Negredo will like david villa in that he didnt really want to come to england.

Sevilla should do well again this season. I've picked Negredo in my La Liga dream team. I think he'll do great.
