Because football is not as black and white as "look at him, he's a good player, he has to command a high transfer fee and go to a top club".

Like I said, I'm pretty sure Hangelands potential and talents will have been known by most good clubs, but it's also a case of supply and demand. At the time he was available, how can you be sure that top clubs would offer him first team football, whereas Fulham will have.

Villareal not fancying Valencia doesn't mean that other people didn't rate him or it wasn't obvious that he was good. Man U didn't fancy Forlan, but since he's left he's been one of Europes very best strikers every single year. We didn't fancy Kanoute (why I know not) but since he left he's also been one of the top strikers in Europe. Juventus didn't fancy Henry, and look at the Career he had after he left them.

It's not black and white. Just because a big club isn't taking on Negredo, for whatever reason, it does not mean that he is not bloody good. It's supply and demand at the end of the day. If you already have a bag of apples, and quite fancy a pear for some variation, but then walk past a display of apples which are tastier than pears, are you going to buy the pears or the apples?

I could go on because your argument is flawed with regards to the players you choose as examples, but we'll have to agree to disagree. Back on topic I actually think Negredo will only join Hull because Madrid want a buy back option, therefore putting off all but the minor clubs in a league.

if there was no weird buy back clause then i would be tempted to hijack the deal, buy him then loan him to hull for the season, still a big risk though

how does this buy back option actually work, can they buy him back for more than the 18m mentioned or far less like they did with almeria?

if it's the latter, hull are crazy to sign him. it basicly means that they can buy him back next year for peanuts and sell him to another club again.

negredo has never ever played for real madrid in a competitive match but they keep making money on him. :D

Unless the chairman/president/whatever of the club that signs him happens to be certifiably mad (some of them are, you know) it would be more than they paid. Even then they could get shafted. Say Hull pay £15m, set the buy-back at £25m and Negredo goes berserk and scores 20+ goals next season. The way striker prices have gone crazy, Real could invoke the buy-back clause and still turn a decent profit by selling him again for £30m.

Is there a buy back clause!? nobody knows this for sure, it is all conjecture simple as that. I think Negredo is saying all this about hull only to prompt another club (us) maybe to nip in and steal him, i'd be very surprised if he joined hull although stranger things and all that!

honestly hull signing negredo doesn't seem that far-fetched.

he's not a house hold name as of yet, so most bigger clubs are afraid to take the gamble for that price while for hull he's the big signing they can use to boost morale.

it kind of worked with geovanni when they were just promoted to the epl.

He plays in Spain yet there doesn't seem to be that much interest from Spanish clubs. Do they know something the rest of us don't?

I willl reserve judgement until I actually see him play with my own eyes.

I remember many people creaming over Elmander before he signed for Bolton and saying he was the man to replace Berbatov.

He hardly tore it up for Bolton last year, and until I see this guy play I have no reason to expect him to either. (although in turn I have no reason to suggest he will not be a roaring success....but that's why I reserve my judgement)

More likely, none of them (other than Real themselves, and Barça, who don't need him) can run to the kind of money Real are asking.

It's a shame Real Madrid don't take more pride in their youth as he would probably do a good job up front and they have a gap at no.9 at the moment.

The signing of Ronaldo, Kaka, the defender from Valencia (can't remember his name off-hand) and Bezema (sp) are exciting ones but it's just a shame they can't compliment it with more home-grown talent.

Obviously they have Cassilas in goal but I can't think of many more who have broken through recently that have actually established themselves into their team (rather than being loaned somewhere, bought back and flogged on for good money...).

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Real Madrid are as good at briniging youth players through, unlike Barca and the likes of Man Utd.

But they do have a number of players in the current sqaud who are all products of the youth system:

Antonio Adan (Goalie)
Miguel Torres (Defender)
Granero
Guti
Raul

The last two are obviously established, whereas Granero is making good steps forward.

So, Cassilas isn't the only one!

Raul spent 1 year at Atletico Madric, when he was 11. Then he went to Real Madrid. I think it is fair to say that joining Madrid at the age of 12 is enough for them to take credit for him as a youth product.

I've got to say, I watched Negredo play a few pre-season games here in the US versus a few (obviously lesser-quality) MLS teams and I was very impressed. Looked like a team player who made all the right moves, got a few assists and a goal or two if memory serves me. Add that to his record in La Liga and everything else I've heard about him and I'd say I wouldn't mind him at the Lane. At this point I wouldn't mind too much if they shipped Keane out and brought in some fresh blood. Keane hasn't been that great without Berbatov to work with, and was rubbish for the entirety of last season.

I'll stick with our past player of the season, EPL proven and much respected within the domestic game, Robbie Keane, thanks.

ofcourse, both actually can since raul has spend more than one year at atletico madrid. what young boy only starts playing football after the age of 11?

he went to real because gil y gil was a really weird chair man (criminal even) and closed down atletico's madrid youth academy.

rauls parents and family are still atletico supporters.

It wouldn't be a question of Keane v. Negredo, though, and it appears the question's entirely academic in any case.
