Yes we’ve Wanyama but we’ve sorely missed him whilst he’s been out injured. Diawara would surely be a highly promising like for like cover for Wanyama? Isn’t the point to have as many like for like players as you can so they can step in without having to drastically change our tactics/fluidity?

I agree but he'e cover for Jorginho at Napoli, what's in it for him to come and sit on a different bench?

Keeps things simple, could be our 'park the bus' destroyer.

We don’t need a CM to keep it simple though. We have enough of them already.

What we need is the complete opposite. Someone in the middle of the park who can spread the play quickly and see and exucute the defence splitting pass.

You have misinterpreted 'keeping it simple' no fancy foot work, does whats need to be done with no embelishments, see's a pass and executes it, none of 360 degree turn to see who is available. Football is a simple game made difficult by the players.

I agree with the idea that we need another box to box player, like De Jong, but I don't know if you have seen much of this kid cause he rivals Victor in the DM role and has a very nice range of passing. I am going to get slated again, but Basquets is one of the simplest players and you would take him in a second. Diawara is very similar in a sense. He keeps the engine room running with one touch recycling of the ball and will also push the team forward.

The idea that Dembele and Dier are simple is not true IMO. Dier takes too many touches causing the defense to regain form and Dembele causes a log jam with his slalom skiing through the defense.

Just by watching the highlights though he is much more of an agile player than Dier, Wanyama or Dembele. He would definitely offer us something different in there.

I prefer someone who can harry the opposition, can drive forward with the ball, who is good under pressure and makes the right decision with the ball. I think this guy can tick all those boxes for us.

Doesn't have to be defence splitting passes, just someone who can move the ball quickly and sharply with purpose.

I have no doubt that he would usurp Wanyama as he is by far a more agile, proficient dribbler of the ball. He is also far more dual footed so he can take the ball on his left and pass it back with accuracy all in one touch. He may be a bit behind Vic in the defensive role, but I think with an upgrade in the B2B role, we would be a very dangerous team.

If I had my way:

DM/CM Comp: Vic, Diawara, Charles Aranguiz
B2B Comp: Winks, De Jong, Josh, Charles Aranguiz.

I would do everything in my power to bring in the three (Diawara, Charles, De Jong).

As you say. The quicker the ball gets to our attackers the less set their defence is. It's why Alonso was so good.
