Thanks for the clarification - I knew it was one of the clubs in the area, just not sure which one.

My main point though was that the club forever saw his mother as a part of the club and made sure she was taken care of. A nice touch.

Only just remember Dave Mackay as a player when I was a kid,Bobby Smith was a bit before my time.
A pair of Spurs legends though and very interesting to hear the differences between them and today's players.
Where have all the hard men gone?

I've just finished reading his book, "The Real Mackay", a very enjoyable read - a man who transformed every team he played for, how we could do with the like of a Dave Mackay today.

That is a great read and really puts to be the myth that Mackay was a dirty player. Strong, but fair. A must read for fans who sing ‘and if you know your history’ :up:
