Several quality players have left Benfica for top European clubs over the years, the latest being Matic who's been outstanding for Chelsea.

Talisca wouldn't threaten Pritchard's development as he plays in the front 3. We desperately lack pace and Talisca would give us this. In saying that he's out of our league since the likes of Chelsea have been courting him for 2 years and reportedly willing to pay around £35m for him.

I don't deny that Benfica produce superb players, but as we've seen with the Latin players we've bought recently, their experience and fantastic technical ability is no guarantee of success in the Prem.

You know I'm with you though on the pace notion, immensely so. I just think there are more financially feasible players available who are even more likely to be conducive to the system (Ayew for free is just a no-brainer given his experience with Bielsaism) and offer more directness. According to transfermarkt, he's played mostly as the "second striker" and central midfield for Benfica, so I'm of the impression he's more of a creative outlet than a direct attacker.

Definitely seems like a Chelsea-type player, that is certain.

A youngster that has never played in the PL is more than good enough to cover for Eriksen at CAM ? How can you possibly know ? He has done reasonably well at Brentford and may make a good PL player but until he is tried in the PL no one can possibly know for sure.
The part in bold could have just as easily been about Talisca.

It's great seeing younger players given a chance but there needs to be a balance of youth and experience. Our defence is a shambles and they get little cover from our often overrun central midfield, whereas our wide players don't track back or offer anything going forward.
Talisca is the same age as Pritchard and has less senior games (albeit at a higher level).

Pritchard hasn't just done well in the Championship, he has taken Brentford by storm and driven them into contention for promotion to the Premiership whereas Talisca has been a star of, wait for it, the Portuguese league!!!!
Now I don't know how good Talisca is, he may be fantastic, but playing well in Portugal does not recommend him to me as any better an option than someone who has played well in the Championship.

He's having an arguably better season than the one Zaha had which led to his £10m+ transfer.

Zaha's transfer might have been ill fated (due to lack of chances more than anything), but it goes to show how underwhelming the reaction has been to Pritchard in light of that comparison.

I'd be a bit worried signing a Brazilian out of the Brazilian League, but this guy is established in Europe already. Saying that I'm starting to think 'sign Brazilians for flashy skills, sign Argentine's for trophys'
