The club seem happy to let him come and regale us with an anecdote or two at half time... so should be no problem to give him his testimonial shouldn't it? :shifty:

Was one of the better players through that period and we were a better side with him in it.

Met him in the players lounge after the Norwich game in 1995, unfortunately he wasnt too friendly and that was disappointing to any 14 year old fan after an autograph and chat.

My all time favorite too. People raved about Beckham's crosses but he had honestly the best crosses from a winger I have seen....loved how it hangs in the air but always seemed to finds its way to our strikers.

Darren Anderton in Twitter spat with BBC man over Tottenham half-time crossbar challenge

Former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton has hit out at claims that he was unable to take part in a half-time crossbar challenge at White Hart Lane on Monday night due to injury.

The 43-year-old was invited onto the pitch at the interval during Spurs' 3-1 victory against Aston Villa along with several fans, all of whom attempted to hit the crossbar with an American football from long range.

Anderton offered encouragement to the participants and commentated on events over the stadium's tannoy, but did not have a shot at goal himself.

The ex-England international, who averaged 25 appearances per season for Spurs, was mocked on Twitter for his absence but has now questioned claims by BBC commentator Conor Mcnamara that he was ruled out of the incident because of injury.

The original Tweet by BBC commentator Conor McNamara that irked Anderton can be seen below:

McNamara's words let to widespread media coverage about the incident and Anderton took to the popular social media platform to respond to the Irishman today.

Anderton still looked like he had it during King's testimonial. Great player, people forget how good he was x

One of my favorite goals scored by Anderton, I just love the sound of the ping as the ball hits each post.

I was lucky enough to see that goal live, big shame that he couldn't get over his injuries as he was a tremendous player.

Paul coyte did say he was injured over the microphone. Dazza might not of heard it but coyte definitely said he couldn't have a go as he was injured. He was joking though obviously.
