One player who is certain to leave Marseille this summer, however, is Andre Ayew. The Ghana international is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently weighing up offers to move to the Premier League.
Ayew, 25, who has been at Marseille for 10 years, has been linked with Spurs and Liverpool among others and Labrune has given up hope of convincing him to sign a new deal at the Stade Velodrome.
‘We can't keep Ayew,’ Labrune explained before Sunday victory which was shown live on BT Sport. ‘He is a very important player for OM but we can't offer him the kind of money English clubs can offer.
‘The French financial system is complicated and we can't offer him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England. And equally, we can't ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon of our team, to accept a lower salary.
‘That makes no sense, so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope he has the great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else.’

Excellent player. Would be perfect competition for Chadli at LWF/our best option now Rodriguez is a no-go. Hard worker and intelligent. Used to a Bielsa system too.

The only problem is that he's been available free since January, so his agent is presumably stoking a massive wage auction, which we're unlikely to get very far in.

Ayew, Konoplyanka, Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela and Pritchard would be a sweet choice for our three behind Kane.

I would be very, very pleased with this outcome.

I'm hoping the interest in Beauvue is genuine, in which case I suspect one of Ayew or Konoplyanka would likely not be included, but nonetheless they'd all be great acquisitions.

Bit imbalanced as Ayew, Kono and Chadli are all LWFs, with only Lamela as a RWF.

Personally I don't think Kono is as good as Townsend

I agree with the balance part and you could also argue that Lamela is more of a AMC than a RWF, giving us no natural options there.

No, it would make him a left footed LWF. He has only played about 5 games on the Right and the last time was 2-3 years ago.

True, he hasn't played many games at L'OM as RWF (mainly due to Thauvin) but as he is left-footer, and he's got a decent left-foot shoot, he could easily be switched to the RWF

I like this guy, but wasn't there an article not too long ago saying we had dropped interest in January? Also of note, no ITK has said anything about him since, unless non-specifically.

So I wonder if we've moved on to other LW targets, but the links with Beauvue are genuine (given Guingamp's prez' quotes). That move would provide us with genuine cover at both RW and striker, and allow us to move for a right footer for LW.

Thauvin has only been at Marseille 2 years and it has been 4 years since Ayew last played a game there for Marseille.

I think saying he could be converted to the RWF just becau e he is left footed is simplyfing things a bit, as it isn't always that easy. I want us to sign a RWF, that is actually already a RWF and not someone that we hope could adapt there.

We could be targeting Beauvue as a striker option.

I agree, although Beauvue would be coming in as a backup striker I think, with Ayew and Kono as wingers...

Tell you what, if those three come in or £0, £0 and £6m... That would already represent a great start to the window, hope there is some truth in these links!

Ayew is a left-footer which would make him a RWF (and not a LWF).

He's a LW, though. He'd give us valuable width and a good work rate on the left. Ayew could really give us some more balance to our side in that he can keep the width and also effectively play with a LB like Ross, who prefers to get forward, as opposed to someone like Chadli or Eriksen who often leave much to be desired in the defensive responsibilities department.

You may have noticed that we play with inverted wingers...that seems unlikely to change anytime soon.

He may add something defensively but he would be a step backwards form an attacking point of view and he wouldn't add the pace, direct running at players and ability to go outside and cross, that we also badly need out wide.
