I don't know how he would fair here. But he was good for a sustained period in Spain, on that basis he's not a poor player imo. Whether he would be a good fit for us, I wouldnt be too confident but again that doesn't mean he's a poor player.
He's hardly been good for a sustained period in Spain. His debut season he was good. The second season Valencia and the whole team were a hot mess. His third season he was bad.

I'd see him more as Eriksen back up, as long as we had pace around him I think he might surprise a few people. Technically he's a very good footballer but there is obvious question marks over his mobility. Eriksen isn't exactly electric paced but he works very hard, as long get that out of him I think he'd be a decent squad player.

We have to sign a pacey attacking player but if got that in I'd be cool with getting Gomes on loan too, point to prove after a terrible time at Barca so he'll be motivated.

Anyone else had an eye on this guy and know why he's been badly used? What's the deal irt this? What does he need and are we the right team to accommodate him to get the best out of him?

I watch Barcelona regularly and he's been appalling. Yes, he's had games where he's been use wrong, (he played as a RB some games), but the ones he played in his natural position he was just as bad. It's like he's not even on the field.
I think Barcelona was too big a move for him. He was good for Valencia.

Good player imo but don't believe he's needed we need a number 10 more

Interestingly, I saw some comments says he plays like (or should play like) our very own dembele. And I remember an ITK or a report says that Poch sees Barkley to inherit Dembele. Andre Gomes as an alternative of Barkley could have legs

Yep, looked tidy and as if he had something about him at Valencia... at times. But sometimes it just looks like his brain doesn't engage quick enough with the ball at his feet. Looks like his confidence is shattered at Barca too.

I generally wouldn't want him.

Jesus Christ. Overall he was good for Valencia which earned him a move to Barca.

Think it looks way too obvious. Rumours we've moved on from Barkley cos of injury who as you said there were rumours we saw as back up to Dembele position and then suddenly this link appears. I'd actually be surprised if we didn't get him in tomorrow.

Haven't seen anything of him really but just had a look at some Valencia stuff and he totally reminds me of Guti in playing style. Obviously he is not quick but he seems strong on the ball, has good vision and the ability to create things.

Pace of course helps but is not mandatory in order to succeed in the PL. If he has the brain, then he has the brain and could be a good player in this league.

Fuck no. I've already had to put up with watching him for Barca, I'm not having him here as well.

Seems far to risky a move for us. Low on confidence and looks like the type that a) may take a while to adapt to PL and b) is unlikely to oust Dembele.

He's really not a bad player. Not sure he's what we need but he's an excellent footballer.

I'll indulge you a little. Relatively tall. Carries the ball with the same upright posture and high head. Doesn't rely on pace. Looks to me like he can possess a delicate touch, weighted pass and offers some form of vision. Looks like the type of guy you could plug into a few positions in the Spanish league across the AMs or even CM.
I just thought Guti when i saw the clips. As said haven't seen much, and not comparing him in overall ability

I've only ever seen him play deep.Ive often thought in games against lesser teams we dont really need dier or wanyama.Would be nice to have a deep sitting playmaker that can ping 40 yrd passes alongside dembele. No idea if he could play AM as well. But right now imo we are desperate for 2 more bodies anywhere through CM to striker.
