Supposedly because they couldn't get a replacement. Frustrating when deals collapse for this reason. Probably wasted so much time on this

Poor window if we are only bringing in a bench striker.squad depth is shocking apart from defensively.if this is the case i've no idea why all the ITK was so positive
So in a fully fit squad, with the first team made up with the obvious, a bench of Vorm Trippier Sanchez Wanyama Winks Lamela Llorente is shocking?

THat's leaving off the following players: Gazzaniga, Foyth, Davies, Nkoudou, Sissoko.

Really lamela? Offensively we have sod all to come on and change a game.i have nothing against the players we have bought and think most will turn out to be good signings but we had no competition for the 3 behind kane for over a season now.

Yes, but still missing that game changer

As disappointing as it was to not get a pacey forward. Not signing Gomes (or Barkley) is extremely disappointing considering Dele is suspended for three CL games and presumably Lamela won't be available. We better hope and pray nothing happens to Son/Eriksen.

It's a terrible point!

Gomes is on a much closer level to Draxler and Rabiot in realistic transfer terms than Ronaldo or Messi.

It is reasonable to think we could have paid the money for Rabiot, certainly, if there were interest from both parties.

Barely, especially regarding Rabiot. Gomes is surplus to requirements at his club whereas Rabiot is seen by PSG as part of their core for the future. It'd take huge money for us to sign Rabiot. Also both Rabiot and Draxler would want wages at least double what we'd be prepared to pay them so they're both complete non-starters unless something really extraordinary happens.

They would also have had all of tomorrow to find a replacement in Spain.

Really weird one. I would think more it would fall apart because of clauses Barca wanted

we definitely strengthened our attacking options with Llorente. Would've liked one more but I am happy enough. for petes sake you all stayed up past midnight last year just to get the news on Sissoko.

Signing Barkley wouldn't have helped us pre Christmas in reality.

Isn't a loan able to be completed about a week after the window closes or am I imagining that?

Barkley is injured until January probably so signing him wouldn't have made the blindest bit of difference either way.

What exactly are people expecting the game to change into? We were fantastic last season and now we have strengthened with another year's experience under our belts. Our game has changed season after season since Poch arrived and only for the better. We will not win every game, although we came very close to doing that at home last season, including the cup games where we used more of our squad. People just want the shiniest of the shiny without actually fully appreciating what we have. Look at where we are. 3rd place, 2nd place. That's not winning the league, but it's a world away from where we were. Just over 10 years ago we were jumping for joy to finish 5th. I'm really sorry the window has closed. I know it's all very exciting for some of you. But back to the football now. You might even enjoy it.

Signing Gomes would have hampered Winks progress. I think we have a real gem in Winks and want to see him push on from a very influential first season, so not bothered about Gomes.
