Mendes has a history of moving his players to clubs to gain major exposure which in terms gains them a move onwards to one of European elite. With Wolves new backing, and Mendes resource of players, they will become the English version of Monaco, a shop window that reaps the rewards of the vast conveyor belt of talent.
If Gomes star has dropped after a tough spell at Barca, he'll move wherever Mendes tells him, in order to kick start his form and in turn put him back in demand.

Seems to me that most people are writing him off without really having seen him play because they've only known about him since he got to Barca.

At Valencia he was one of the highest rated CM's in europe. Why do you think he was bought by Barca in the first place? The issue is that Iniesta, Rakitic and Busquets are all ahead of him and he's really not had a chance to play. For Valencia he was excellent. He has a superb passing range, strong on the ball, athletic. He has everything in his locker to be a success in this country and can certainly pick a pass. His creativity would be useful so I'd be happy for us to take him.

With that said, I would've thought that this is just a re-hash of the story from the summer just to fill some column inches.
I actually thought he was quite overrated while he was at Valencia. I believe I said as much when Barcelona went in for him. At Valencia he was super inconsistent and looked much more like a Youtube player than an actually good one.

He's never really impressed me for Portugal either.

Barca's coach just came out and said he is a "spectacular player". Not sure this is one we will be able to pull off, if we're trying to that is. I really like the skills he could bring. He's really big so can use his body to hold off defenders and advance the ball forward from the midfield and has pretty good passing range. Think that's just the kind of player we're looking for against those teams that park the bus.

Underwhelming if ever I saw it . Is he better than lamela? Doubt it ! Eriksen ? No chance! Son ? Nope not what I have seen from son last 18 months . Really not sure what he brings and even if he is made for premier league

He plays a different role than all those guys. Not sure what made for the premier league means exactly either.

He also may look underwhelming in one of the best midfields in the world playing next to Busquets and Iniesta. Barca fans are saying he's looked really good lately so looks to be figuring it out under the new Barca coach.

No hint or clue, so please do not read into it. Imho, he is better that Barkley all day long. Before he went to Barca we would of been chiming over him.

I'm not disputing whether he's better than Barkley or not.

Just that the majority of fans wouldn't deem him a better signing than Barkley or a particularly exciting signing.

On a personal note, if Poch rates him and would like him to join, that's enough to excite me.

Checking some reddit comments and it looks like he improved a lot over the last few games and many fans want him to stay now.

I could have heard wrongly but it seems that Graham Hunter just said that Gomes is not for sale (and I think he has attributed it to his uptick in form).

I'm not sure its just that tbh. Wolves owners are an obscenely wealthy company with a huge yearly turnover and Monthly profits that dwarf even other wealthy owners like this at Leicester and Everton. Apparently theirs is a long term investment and they want to turn Wolves into the 'Man City of the West' with a goal of turning them into a top 6 club with Mendes playing a huge role in that. Their push for Andre Silva at 30m+ is evidence enough of that.
I believe their owners are the third richest in England.
