It hasn't worked out for him at Barca for various reasons, that can happen to any player, if he could recapture the form of his time at Valencia where he was a joy to watch, he could prove a very astute signing and what better coach to bring him on again than Poch....yes he was voted worst transfer signing in La Liga, but so was Modric....

I dont mean to be overly negative but if Barrios and Gomes are the level of players we are looking at after losing Dembele then I am seriously underwhelmed

No not fucking Gomes! Something is very wrong with our scouting if we want him.

Lots of involvement re Gomez. I can accept Grealish, but not this guy personally. As Trix said, he is an option, and I would add, an active one. I am now praying Barrios goes through.
What changed your opinion on Barrios if I may ask?

Haven’t changed. Out of the two I prefer Barrios. Due to very limited information on him. Only seen 1 but game of Barrios, and stated my views. And added; I stand to be corrected.

Barrios, Gomes and Grealish is the kind of players I could see being linked with the likes of West Ham and Leicester not a team looking "to challenge for the league".

Grealish is a decent enough player and i know little about Barrios, but hardly anything to get very excited about ?

We won't be signing Pogba-esque players yet... Need to win something first

Gomes, Grealish, Barios... Feels like Money ball signings again rather than 'going for it' next level signings that could push us on to the title. Gomes could be decent 'if we can get his head right' but his stock has fallen massively, Grealish plays for a tier two club who need to sell, Barios plays in an unfashionable league and has an unattractive quality in that he dives into tackles. Feels like classic Moneyball, opportunistic signings of players who are priced low for one reason or another to me rather than targeting 3/4 world class players who would really push us on. It's early days but for me the signs are worrying.

We were told we would be competing with the big boys not including the manc clubs...so far we are competing with West Ham and Southampton. If Gomes and Barrios are a secondary signing to a really good primary CM then I am ok with it. If they are seen as a primary then I give up on this window

Surely from this fantastic scouting network we've supposedly put together we can do better than Andre Gomes...

No issue with people feeling underwhelmed with the links, I do wonder though that if, 'if', these players are players that Poch wants then surely that is all that matters?

I'm aware that some of the players that Poch has earmarked/wanted may not have worked out or been to the liking of the fans, but one of the many demands/cries has been to back the manager.

If Gomes, Grealish or Barrios are the player(s) he wants then I guess that's all that matters in the long run.

Then I seriously worry about Poch lol

He said that we need to be brave...maybe he knew he would piss off the fans with these transfers and so was being brave by still going ahead with them lol

A lot say that and I believe most are genuine but I can't help thinking what some really mean is, "I want the club to spend a lot of money, preferably on players I like."

Maybe he did haha!

I'm not suggesting for one minute that I am elated with all the links but that's the ups and downs that come with transfers.

I don't know Gomes well enough to know why there's so much animosity towards him, but surely he can't be that bad if he was, apparently, good enough at Valencia for Barcelona to want to sign him. Am I missing something?
