This from the comments section under that Sun article entitled 'F-Arsh' (seriously, come on):

The delay wasn't caused by either Arsenal or Zenit. The delay was due to the paperwork being faxed over to the right people just 30 minutes before the deadline (Confirmed by the agent who ran the deal Phil Smith on Talksport radio). Because of the timing of the fax and the terrible weather, the FA/PL headquarters were working with a skeleton crew until the next day when they had to deal with THREE other delayed transfers and both the Lampard red card and the Bosingwa incident. There was nothing illegal or sinister about the transfer... Except for the weather. End of story.
Is it just me that finds that tremendously confusing. The weather delayed the fax machine? And the FA buggered off early so didn't bother dealing with a transfer as they had to deal with Lampard andd Bosignwa incidents - which seeing as they did sod all about, can't have taken that long, surely?
who gives a shit man!? you really wanna be so petty as to try and penalise arsenal for that shit?
hats off to them - fucking jealous! he's gonna be soooooooooo sick!
That's a sham of an excuse and they know it. That paper work could've been sent electronically to anyone at all that needed to see it, to claim it was because they had a skeleton staff at Soho Sq is just a big stack of slightly gammy pig-cocks.
brrrap.
And it's not a case of penalising the Woolwich, they have broken the rules, the same rules that would've been transparently enforced and publically heralded by the FA if it had been many other clubs, i suspect.
I agree that it's fantastic to have the talent in the league but at what cost? This is going to run and run and i expect Durham on Talksport was right - every club he plays against will appeal that they have fielded an illegible player. Won't take much of a lawyer to get that through either, unless the FA/Prem League are going to fudge facts to aid the case (which wouldn't surprise me)
They're saying they received all necessary paperwork before the deadline which is frankly horse shit. What happened to the Email that was supposed to be sent? Did they receive those before the deadline?
Where did you hear that?If it's true that Zenit rang Spurs on deadline day to try and get a bigger bid than Arsenal's £12/15m then I'm gonna be fucking angry
From what i understand, the summer was a very complicated time, involved some very complicated paperwork and Ramos' departure left us back at square one, with regards to him coming to the Lane.It begs the question though, could we not have done the same in the summer? It appeared to be very close to happening, but we ran out of time on deadline day. Surely we should have been able to use the imaginary loophole that Arsenal are using?
Where did you hear that?
Twas on the bbc rumours page yesterday. Could be bullshit, which is why I said IF.
It would be plausible though, Zenit certainly did not want to sell at cut price, but needed to get rid of him.
