Southampton are reported to have made a bid for the winger but Tottenham are said to be rejecting all bids for Townsend unless they agree to let Schneiderlin move to north London.

Offer them Lennon in part exchange, We shouldn't let Townsend go he is a good young player who we need to keep.

To be honest, this doesn't surprise me.

After all that's happened with MS and the rumoured changing of goalposts, he can leave, then he can't, then he can for anyone but us, then he can't leave, what do they expect if they come in for one of our players in that Levy will just role over and say yes, of course, let's get the job done.

This is the kind of problem though that will drag out the pain til the last minute and we could miss out on MS AND plan B/C/D, etc.

This is a rehashed story I don't see any limbo. We are two games into the season, he was left out against QPR, competition for places.
Deal with it!

Lennon will put in some good performances under Poch just as Rose will and remember what you were saying about Rose not long ago. Townsend is a bit different to Lennon in that he has never really performed for us and if they let him go I'm sure they know what they are doing.

I don't think we need MS. Townsend should be kept and rotated with Lennon and Holtby...I like the combination of Capoue and Bentaleb we also have Dembele and Sandro which we know is also a good combination plus Paulinho.

Couldn't agree more. A year ago he was pulling up trees with England in the WC qualifiers and then 12 months later after having had a bad injury and playing catch up on form and fitness last season are we suddenly concluding that he isn't good enough?! I really think it is too early to make a call on him and with the right guidance, we could have a £20 - 30m player on our hands!! Lennon on the other hand has had many years now to step up to the next level and he has never shown the consistency required to be a top player so would be happier if he was the one sacrificed!

Nothing to say Townsend won't do exactly the same.

If we let Townsend go we'll surely be back in for Rodriguez at some point. Schneiderlin and Capoue will be some pairing in CM.

I agree but you could say the same about any of our other promising young players (Dier, Bentaleb, Walker). All I'm saying is if we are happy to keep the likes of Danny Rose then this kid definitely deserves a chance to develop and show what he can do.

I know there is often little room for sentiment in football but he has been with us in the academy since age 8 and it would be nice to bring through another top player that we have nurtured from the start. King is probably the last one which is way too long....

Ha ha ha very funny. I take your point though. To be honest - my view is more about bigging up Townsend than denigrading Lennon.

Taking Southampton and any business we may be doing with them out of the discussion, the point I was trying to make is if given a straight choice of which player to keep out of the two i'd take Townsend for the reasons above.

I think we would all take Townsend over lennon. But one is worth near 15 million and the other about 5 and prob has little takers
