But 2013 was a nightmare too.
that's not right as he did well under AVB and particularly for England. Some on here were even comparing him to Bale.
In 2014 he was found out somewhat and I think Poch is giving him another chance to prove himself.

To be honest, I don't think he contributed enough for us. He regularly beat defenders but frequently failed to set up his teammates or wasted possession by having a shot, ignoring everyone around him. True, He did very well for England in those two games. But I don't think he's been very good or effective for us

I actually think there's been some progress from his part in his last appearances. There's been some reverse passes, through balls and more simple play, and he's generally been less infuriating.

I really hope Andros shows just how good a player he is this season.
At his best he is some player.
He is one of our own,he is one of our own...Andros Townsend is one of our own!!!!!

If he plays the game simply and focus's on doing the basics correctly he will be a good player, he is trying to run before he can walk, instead of trying so many audacious moves and long range shots cutting in, he should try get to a byline and cut back a cross, or play a couple through balls, or balls quick to the feet of the strikers.

I don't mean this in a negative way, he has the tools to be a great player, but he isn't super young, older than Kane and Eriksen and he needs to start showing something soon. I really hope he can make it and I believe with firm coaching he can get there.

Yeah, I somewhat agree. Townsend came through pretty fast and has dropped off a little, but he still has a lot of what it takes to be a good Prem. winger.....pace, ball-control and a trick or two. All he needs is to learn to vary his tactics more; something that Pochetto can teach him.
Sometimes we are guilty of giving up on players too early.......
