Andros Townsend has been ruled out of England's upcoming internationals against Slovenia and Scotland through his inability to do much apart from dribble helplessly and hopelessly into blind alleys and then give the ball away or shoot aimlessly.

If you have ever read any of my posts on Townsend, you know I don't rate him, but I will say he seems to be improving more than most players this season - at least in terms of accepting coaching and not shooting every time he crosses midfield. I would not be shocked if this is a similar move to Dier, where he just wants more time to practice with the squad - given that his playing time with England is dubious at best anyway. Its a better use of his time imo.
