Gomes is a massive confidence player, I am convinced there is still a special keeper in there somewhere

Gomes is a quality keeper. But any shot can go in with him in goal. Unfortunately he does not bring any confidence to the team

Formation relies on quick central defenders and goal scoring wide forwards. Can't see a future for Dawson Aim afraid. Someone like Nani would be ideal

Unless Lennon scores more AVB wont play him either

Was wondering if people would take Nani plus cash for Modric?

All I care from our manager is to find ways to get the best out of each player and the team as a whole, to utilize different systems based on what the players are capable off, who the team they have to play against is, what the current score is, etc. I don't want him to get stubbornly stuck with the same system throughout the entire season, regardless of the opponent or what the goal in the particular game is - playing for a draw or a must win. I want flexibility and variety with style.

I'd be Loathe to see Luka with that lot but if it was Nani plus big cash in exchange then I would be extremely tempted. It would effectively take United out of the running for Moutinho as well, so in that scenario we might actually have a better shot at getting in a quality replacement.

I agree totally that the players at Chelsea didn't fit the high back line system. Who could ever forget seeing John Terry floundering against the scum. However the manager has to take the blame for playing a system with the wrong players. Agility and speed are essential for the defenders in this situation. Terry has neither these days.

Leaning towards this...but my emphasis would be on the loathing bit.
I really would hate to see them benefitting in any way form taking another of our best players - even if we benefitted massively this time.
Alos, bear in mind, Beetroot Head went out of his way to feck us with Berbatov/Cam*ell, he would know we were benfitting from getting Nani - not sure he would do it.

Against Arsenal, John Terry’s slip on the half way line with no cover on gifted Robin van Persie a goal in the 5-3 loss to also highlight Chelsea’s high-line problem.
Slip my arse. The fucking carthorse pretended to stumble so he wouldn't be shown up by van Rapist racing away from him.

Sounds like Remy would be ideal for the right sided role

Don't really agree with this, as that role is far more suited for a left footed player cutting inside.
What I do think though, is that Remy would be indeed a perfect signing for us - in the no. 9 role.
Remy is a bit misunderstood due to having played out of position a lot - wide or in support.
He's first of all a striker, a skillful explosive finisher, and to many's surprise he is excellent in the air.
Most headed goals in the top 5 european leagues in 2011, only a couple scored more with the head in the 2011/12 season (Llorente and a few on same amount as Remy).
If we can't land Falcao, who's proven with Villas-Boas, then there aren't many others I think would be a more sure succes for us than Remy.

Think the article get it the other way around when it comes to the wide men and our current squad as well.
Not taking into consideration that both Rafael and Giovani can play on the right is one thing.
But with our usual prefered wingers in Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon,
I believe AVB would be tempted to play them in reverse roles as well -
Bale in the Hulk role, cutting in on his left foot, proven goal scorer, great in the air as an extra striker.
Lennon out left, can stretch teams, even if he stay wide he can still go on the inside with his natural right foot,
but he can also go outside on the left do one of his runs to the short line for a 40 degree pass, difficult to predict for opposition.
