I worry about these articles. Im a very pessimistic guy, but having supported spurs for 34 years, i dont think my pessimism is misplaced. Seen this time and time again about how we are bigged up like this, and we as fans buy into the bigging up and hence raise our level of expectations, only to come down with a thud in march and april. Seen it before, many times.

A lot of people will say this time its different, that our team is better now, is fitter now etc, but thats just the media doing its job on our mind, plus we forget that we said the same thing last season and the season before last.

Until we are still in the same strong position after playing all the big boys, my pessimism remains.

I hope im wrong. Dear God, please tell me my pessimism is wrong.

I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't like to talk us up in any way and whilst in my head I might think we're in with a shout - those words won't leave my mouth in fear of jinxing it.

These articles are written by the same people who will take great pleasure in telling us Spurs bottled it if everything goes tits up.

I preferred it when we were quietly going about our business unnoticed.

Nice read though (y)

Now that youve said it in your post, its no longer in your head anymore now is it? Oh God you just jinxed it yourself

Forget about jinxes. They are just words.

I'm still looking at the 4th place situation, where we're 8pts clear

Since anything else (including a title-tilt) is a bonus, I'm not nervous at all

Just enjoy the ride :)

What about if i tell you we were 12 points above Arse with about 12 games to go 3 seasons ago only to yet again finish below them?

Or despite us being 8 points clear of 5th for now, there are still 39 points to play for?

You wont like me for this but like i said, i remain pessimistic. Far too many times I've seen it.

We're (Spurs fans) all set up that way (pessimistic) and the end result this season may indeed prove to be disappointing.
The thing here however is that at the start of the season we were hoping but not expecting top four. We had appointed a young, hungry manager and he was building a young team for the future. Some fans were still not convinced by him. In the past we have flattered to achieve but I believe there is a key difference at the minute.

That difference is to do with foundations. Our current side is built on a collective mentality. There are no "Bales" in this side. They all defend together and attack together. They are fitter than any other side and understand that it is hard work that will reap rewards. Players out of the first 11 one week are fully supportive of their mates on the pitch. Only Leicester seem to have a similar spirit of all the top sides. Watch when we play well - we swarm all over the opposition and they can't live with us.

We started this momentum with a lot of draws and being tight at the back and as confidence increased we started to win more and more. The players now expect to win and know the work they have to put in to achieve it. I can't think of a game (aside from Watford away) where we were lucky to get a draw or a win. We should, based on chances and play, have won a lot of our draws and were not outplayed in any of our three single goal defeats. Our past teams had off days when the silky football wasn't there but the basis of this side is hard work and belief and therefore much more sustainable.

There is still the chance that some players will run out of steam but I hope we're peaking at the right time.

Just enjoy it and if we finish 4th well so be it - we might win the FA Cup or Europa League and go again next year. Lots to enjoy. Never been a better time to support Spurs.

I think we've developed as a team and yes a lot of this is down to Poch's philosophy but Iso think that this could be down to Pouch being given more say/decisions. Not a dig at Levy at all but with his focus on the new stadium, Poch maybe has been left to deal with the footballing side of things which he is good at and Levy dealing with the finances side of things which he is the best at.

Long may this continue and as a fan it's a very exciting time to be a Spurs supporter

I don't believe in jinxes or superstition. When he have failed in the past, it has been due to cheating, bad refereeing or mistakes from our managers and players.

It has been nothing to do with newspapers or blogs writing positive articles about us.

We're we that good against Watford? Didn't get to watch the match

Yeah, apart from the scoreline, that was the most dominant we've been all season. Watford created exactly zero chances, and you don't see that often at this level.
This was also achieved by Wimmer slotting in well for Verts. We didn't lose any of our defensive discipline

A rare breed. Spurs supporters aren't usually synonymous with rationality!

From article:

Imports from abroad are given cooking courses to make sure they know how to prepare healthy food

Maybe our coach isn't brilliant. Maybe he's nuts.

On a serious note, this article I think gives context to Townsend's exit. If you recall his training ground dust-up was with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner. In retrospect that may be the one person you don't want to fall out with in Poch's set-up. "Gimme a break Nathan, I'm knackered" is probably the last thing Poch wants to hear, and it may well have been something along those lines that did for Andros.
