Whether Mourinho stays or goes, Man Utd still have Alexis Sanchez stealing £350,000 a week in wages and United's golden boy Marcus Rashford competing for the same positions as Martial plays. He's never going to be first choice week in, week out while those two are there. I'm sure of it.
And to be fair he has never actually done enough to merit playing in front of either of those, however inconsistent they may be.

Uhhh? I think he was scoring something like a goal a game or close to in the several matches leading up to them signing Sanchez.

I'll admit I was disappointed when we didn't get Martial but I was more interested in keeping Toby. With the impact Moura has made and Son soon to return I'm actually rather pleased with how things have panned out. Utd may have been preoccupied with not strengthening us but I think Toby would have been a much more influential signing for them than Martial would have been for us. I doubt we'd have spanked them with Toby in their line up - even Mourinho couldn't fuck him up that quickly. It's also a fact that we'd have to bench somebody to accommodate Martial and we don't pay the wages to keep players happy in that situation. If we could get Toby to sign a new deal I'd be more than happy.

Yeah, he still has a great goals per minute record.

At this point, if I were Martial, I'd take a new contract with a pay rise and a sensible release clause included.

Without both of those and I'd tell United where to stick it.

Suggestion is he wants to stay in the premier league, so as the transfer window's closed, why not.

Sanchez has been mostly awful since joining United, not that I'm complaining. At Arsenal he basically had a free role.

He would be nuts to sign a new contract whilst mourinho is there. He can wait and see what happens and then force their hand in a few years

If he does sign a new contract, I'm sure his agent will make sure a release clause is included.

United are not a club you ask for a release clause. Regardless of how shit they are, they are still a giant in football.

I see what you're saying but Martial holds all the cards in this situation. He's still only 22 and has 2 years left on his contract. The longer they wait to agree to a new contract, the higher the chance that he leaves for significantly way less than they bought him for. Doesn't matter how big they are, if he forces a release clause they'll have to agree or sell him soon. I could see Barca bidding for him.
