I think Maureen is running scared. He is acutely aware that Martial in our team will P*** all over manure.
I don’t think Mourinho is anywhere near that self-aware, but I think Woodward knows he’ll probably be gone in the next 18 months and wants to hang on to everything he can.

Will Martial agree to move without CL football? Dortmund and Bayern also linked in the papers, I could see the latter happening...

Possibly Bayern if Lewandowski left but seems that has been shut down now. Coman is rumoured to be on the market I guess.

Dortmund do look to be raising some funds and would be a decent move for him. Chelsea would easily blow them out on wages.

Think Bayern would see him as successor to Robbery, they ain’t getting any younger...

True but they still refuse to get rid, and they still have Gnabry and Coman on their books and James on loan, so no guarantees of starts.

I really think it'll be Chelsea, and the reason JJ said it's not totally off the table is if Hazard ends up staying.

As long as there is a chance I reckon we will put Zaha on the back burner and likely end up it’s nether after a last minute push befor the buzzer.

Looks like Martial put in a terrible performance now against MLS side. United fans not pleased. Even journalist weighing in his performance, tweeting clearly that it was a (non)performance of a guy who doesnt want to play anymore for manager or club....

Good!
He needs to make his position there untenable so that Mourinho really wants him gone and the board have no other option but to sell. It will then depend on Chelsea I guess.

Personally I’m pretty surprised he and his agent have been so quiet. Maybe he’s just that kinda guy, but I wonder if there hasn’t been some sort of handshake agreement... “stay out of the press and we’ll find you a way out”... wishful thinking perhaps.

Wouldn't be terrible from my perspective. Would prefer Zaha because of HG, desire, and the 'step up' as opposed to the 'step down' in club perception. But also have never gotten the fuss over Martial and don't really understand Poch's fixation with his recruitment. He is a stagnant player who is also an unwilling defensive contributor. How does that fit into our team concept? We already have enough 1 dimensional players we need not add more for huge sums of money.

If I'm Martial then I'm looking at my french teammates having just come back from winning the biggest prize in the game and I'm blaming Mourinho for the fact that I wasn't part of it. Imagine being AM knowing that you were part of that squad not so long ago and it could have been you with a world cup winners medal. It must be sickening.

IMO this kid is more than talented enough to be playing weekly for any club in this league and he should be in the french squad.

The only reason he didn't go to Russia is due to the way that Mourinho mis-managed him and had him in and out of the side so often. He couldn't get any consistency in his game thanks to that and made it easy for Deschamps to leave him out. I just can't see any way that he would have any respect for Jose whatsoever, let alone want to play for him.

JJ's ITK gives me renewed hope but I'd see this one running til late in the window. One upside is that Utd certainly don't need to replace him when they already have too many players in his position as it is.

Rashford is in a similar boat and if he isn't playing regularly by end of this season then he should also be looking to get out.

Mourinho is a horrible man manager.

Only chance this happens is that there is little interest from european clubs (not likely at all) - Martial pushes for a move to us (possible) and we negotiate a sale of Toby to Utd (possible). I'd say very unlikely but NOT impossible. Has deadline day written all over it (with us ultimately failing)

You are underrating Martial - I really think he is a fabulous talent who would walk into our team.

Or maybe its because not 1 offer has come in where he'd be on more money if any offers have come in at all.
I suspect thats the most likely reason.

I have to say that Martial is the only target we have been linked with so far that would actual improve our attack, and that I would be genuinely excited about, it seems like a long shot, but JJ's comment at least gives us hope at least.

Martial is a notch above any signing we've made for big money recently. Zaha is in the bracket below him and definitely should be our backup contingency should Martial fail. Grealish a great homegrown prospect to really help out with our quota issues and I can slowly but surely see how our summer window is/ was planned to shape up.
