I’m genuinely amazed so many people are so meh on this signing. He’d be one of the most exciting signings I remember us making. European golden boy in 2015 ahead of Alli and Coman, which shows how highly rated he was. They spent whatever the fuck the fee was on a 19-year-old, a record fee and absolutely crazy money at the time.

He just has absolutely everything to his game you could want from an attacker. Pace, ball control, dribbling, chance creation, assists, goals. His link-up play in and around the box is so impressive even in a stifling Jose setup. Can play on the wing and in the centre. And according to Herc, has spoken to Poch and wants a move to Spurs.

I don’t think people realise quite how much potential this kid has. My United fan mates are furious he’s being let go.

Not gonna get overexcited as I'm not greatly optimistic of this getting done but the thing I like about Martial is that he has an eye for goal when in possession of the ball. And that last part may sound strange but take someone like Dele for instance who of course gets goals but they're more from his off the ball movement, he doesn't actually have the best of shots on him to be honest nor ability to get past a player. Martial though when he has the ball he's forward thinking, very much so like Son when he's on form really but I just wonder if we could potentially get more consistency out of Martial than we do Son.

i reckon this lack of optimism of getting it done (which i share) is everything to do with why so many aren't sold on him in our squad. i'm reading what the itks are saying but i just can't see it happening if for no other reason than it's too good to be true. he would be the perfect addition to our squad. we've swung and missed on multiple out and out forwards to back up kane; martial is exactly the kind of player we need. he's best suited in support of kane (which is handy because kane always plays), but in a pinch, he can lead the line with support from son/dele/eriksen. united would be fools to sell him to us.

I think he's great, I just don't think he's that good at close control dribbling. Of course he's not Sissoko, but I find him very similar to Son in style.

Agreed - he’d be a superb signing.

So sell us martial at a knock down fee and we sell toby for a knockdown fee. Fucking over monaco would be nice.

Wasn't this something that we did in one of deals for Davies when we got him from Swansea? Added in the fee that they still owed us for Gylfi so the actual transfer fee was lower and Swansea didn't have to pay as high of a sell-on or something?

Swear it was with someone from Swansea.

Being fairly new to posting here, I'm going to go out on a limb & express my belief that Toby going to ManU is simply bad for football.

Mourinho is the antithesis of Poch's style of play, particularly going forward.

Both know how to win but take vastly different approaches.

Mourinho is a brooding, negative, win at any cost type of manager & he does it well.
He's a football philistine as he strips all the beauty out of the game. Hence why so many of his skillful, attacking players suffer under him.

ManU had the best defensive record in the Prem this past season yet only the 5th highest number of goals for despite having such expensive talent going forward such as Lukaku, Alexis, Martial, Mata, Pogba, Lingard & Rashford. These players thrived elsewhere yet he squeezes the life out of them & opponents with his suffocating style of play.

I fear if Toby was to go there, defensively he would improve what many already believe is a fairly 'meh' back line thus further reducing their goals against. Consequently, ManU would need to score even fewer goals in order to succeed. Now, having shored up his defense even more, would Mourinho be willing to change his style of play? He's stated & proven everywhere he's gone that he wouldn't. Conversely, Poch would then focus on how his players could best express themselves going forward.

Yes at RM, Mourinho's team scored many goals but 90% of the clubs they played against were significantly weaker. Even mid-table EPL or Bundesliga teams would score goals there for fun. La Liga is an inferior league less 3-4 clubs. In the EPL there is a much greater sense of parity.

In Martial, there is a talent lost in that shell of a player that Mourinho has disposed of & I have no doubts that Poch could resuscitate him. Would he bring the best out of him? That's to be seen as part of the onus is also on the player in how he responds.

I have mentioned "going forward" a number of times but having Toby go to ManU would be taking the EPL game as a whole 2 steps backwards.

I would rather Toby go anywhere other than ManU simply for the good of football.

Fuck Man Utd. We have not played Toby for most of the year and whilst he would have had an impact his abscence is not what has led to droppd points I think!

Whatever Poch decides for Spurs is good for football!

Fully agree, but it's to do with his below par performances of late, which are caused by low confidence. His body language tells his own story. Clearly he needs a manager who has faith in him. Poch would do wonders with him. Said it before, he can become Bale-esque for us - under the right guidance.

Vorm i think. They had to give a % of his sell on fee if i remember.

There's always a risk with any transfer though. No denying that Mourinho has fucked players up in the past but there's always an exception, hope Martial isn't it!

Must say, I think Martial could be a cracking player for us...

He does however play in the same position as Son and in a similar style, from what I've seen...

This is my issue. I like Martial, but he doesn’t improve the first 11 for me. He is better on the ball than Son, but Son is a more prolific goal scorer.

And then where does that leave Lucas and why did we buy him?

I don’t really see Martial as cover for Kane, despite what people say. Like Son he’s not a number 9.

Mate’s Dad works at Man U and he mentioned today that Martial is moving to London.

He didn’t know if it was us or Chelsea or Arsenal.

Last time we had a mate's dad itk people spent the entire summer (last year's infamous "kit being printed" gate) quoting it incessantly forever both in joke and seriousness. Hope yours fair better.

He works in security and goes to all games home and away.

So yeah of course anything can change. But this is what he’s heard.

Mate, I really don't think you need to worry too / so much about whether the problem is Martial or Mourinho.

Rashford burst onto the scene under Fergie, scored for fun, called up for his country & did the same. Had assists, link up play, finishing, speed & strength. Now he's broken & doesn't look comparable to that exciting kid Fergie gave a debut to just a couple of years ago. Mourinho broke him.

Martial, Already described quite fucking superbly by @Luka Van der Bale .. Now look at him. Slumped shoulders, no fire. Mourinho broke him.

Sanchez - Ex Gooner or not, while he was playing for that shower from down the road, he was unquestionably one of the most exciting players in the PL, if not Europe & beyond. Had it all, speed, skill, tenacity, finishing. Singlehandedly winning matches. Now look at him. Going through the motions, seemingly lost in his surroundings & pretty much just floating through games (unless he's at Wembley, what's that all about? Weird!). Mourinho broke him.

Pogba - They paid that sum and he had all the previous reviews and praise for a reason. The lad is one of the biggest talents in world football & his performances in Italy proved that. Another player who had the ability to do what others couldn't, skill, strength, pace. And he used them! Now look at him, a shadow, out of sync, moody (I accept he's always had a dodgy temper). Mourinho broke him.

If I could be arsed I could probably keep going, but hopefully my point is made. I can't stand the moody ****. Mourinho is, in my opinion, an egotistical, jumped up **** with an unbelievable ability to suffer delusions of grandeur beyond anything or anyone I've seen in football before. Mourinho is literally anti-football.

Hope that's put your mind at ease a little at least (y) COYS
