He’d be ideal for the team, yes we have Son on left but he can be very hot and cold and needs extra pressure on him plus Son can play right side.

Plus Martial can play centre forward (or Son can play centre forward and Martial left or vice versa).

And it’s all about options if we want to win things and allows us to freshen things up.

It's all about having players who can switch around to different positions. It confused the hell out of defenders and gives us an edge. If Poch thinks Martial has that ability it's good enough for me!

Pretty sure the Torygraph gets info from here
Trix and Hercules have said Matt Law has good sources. If the info he has matches up to the ITKs, shouldn’t that mean we should be more confident it’s very accurate?

Is the latest this morning from Matt Law? Can’t see the original anywhere, just a lot of sources quoting the Telegraph.

I'm still not sure about our pursuit of him, or even his willingness to join us.
If I remember correctly, we had an offer accepted by Monaco but turned us down, signing a new contract and saying he wanted to continue playing in France.
10 weeks later he signed for United...

Seeing as Son is a 20 goal man from Left side/Attack and doesn't even play every week, I'm not sure what this potential vast financial outlay is going to add. Would love for Martial to come in and improve on the those figures, I'm just not so sure. I would love for us to find someone who can get those numbers from the right hand side.

I appreciate he will improve the squad but I'm not sure what you want to be spending on that type of player.

That was before we were where we are now, and before he got absolutely Mourinho'd though

Just to remind ourselves with the god-tier source that is Bouhafsi when it comes to French players: - We've been interested for a long time now. Hopefully we get it over the line.

As I remember it Monaco didn't accept what we offered and pulled out of any deal.

Has a price ever been quoted for Martial? I don't remember one in the media or ITK.

Also you could easily have applied that logic to Liverpool singing Salah. Mane played that right forward position last season and was one of the players of the season.

I love Son but always think when he starts we are left with pretty weak attacking subs. I like Lamela but he's not a massive goal threat. Moura we haven't seen enough yet. Sissoko, Janssen and Llorente go without saying.

Having a player good enough to challenge Son and Dele for a start makes a lot of difference. Look at how the likes of Chelsea can nick results by virtue of a Willian or Pedro coming off the bench.

As far as we can tell there is enough budget for a CM and CB after Martial so for me it'd be a very key signing. Would prove ample Kane cover which is a squad weakness. At his current level he's equivalent to Son, but Martial could become a top player in the right environment and is well worth a try.

Yanited want best part of 60m for him, especially with their obligations to Monaco. Forget the fact he has a year left on his contract. I personally believe we will pay it, if Poch believes it is a risk worth taking out of his budget,

Thanks for the info Herc :) Looks like they are prepared to sell him to us, because he wants us?

I don't believe for a second united will sell to us, even if they are dangling the carrot now
Me personally i agree Clive, but still have to put it out there. Sanchez, I didn’t personally believe we would get, until 48 hours before he signed. So I believe there is a good chance, but don’t hold my breath.

I’ve read somewhere that if United sell Martial for more than £45m, Monaco get a huge chunk. Might incentivise them to do a trade or something. Might also be untrue.

36million with add ons rising to 60million or so. Don't think he really achieved many if not all of the requirements to jump the fee.
But they will have to stump up another €10m (£7.6m) if he scores 25 league goals, €10m if he wins 25 caps for France and €10m if he is nominated for the Ballon d'Or award. That could total upwards of £60m. So far he’s scored 13 EPL goals and 18 games for France. However I’d assume he made his international debut while playing for Monaco.

IF we do indeed go up to £50m+ you would think that would price out the likes of Juventus this window. Especially with no major outgoings on the horizon there. These top european clubs tend to try and loan players before they commit these days.

Utd could afford to take a lower bid abroad but would Woodward really go for that? He's more of a businessman after all.

Logical solution is the swap deal (well co-dependant) with Toby.

If we are going to be paying that sort of fee (60 mil) i would prefer we spent it on Fekir then Martial, but thats just personal preference. I will still be shocked if Utd sell to us.
