Yes I agree his age is a factor. But he seems to have gone backwards the last 2 years. It could be Mourinho, but equally some players just don't kick on.

I know for a fact that Rashfords brothers (=agents) were planning on being in Leipzig yesterday, and it wasn't for a holiday. So they probably think it's Mourinho and that Rashford needs playing time.

Tottenham step up their pursuit of Anthony Martial as they prepare talks with Manchester United officials

  • Tottenham will step up their pursuit of Manchester United star Anthony Martial
  • Mauricio Pochettino has made the signing of Martial a priority for next season
  • Sportsmail understands that Tottenham officials are planning talks with United
  • Pochettino will be handed at least £100m to spend this summer transfer window
Tottenham will accelerate their interest in Manchester United’s unsettled winger Anthony Martial next week.

Sportsmail understands officials from the north London club are planning talks with United chiefs as they look to keep to their promise of acquiring manager Mauricio Pochettino’s top transfer targets.

Martial has not been named in France’s World Cup squad meaning a deal can be concluded swiftly if both clubs can agree a fee.

Pochettino has identified the pacy forward as one of his priorities ahead of next season as he looks to build a squad capable of sustaining a title tilt.

The Argentine will be given at least £100million to spend on new talent this summer and is pre-pared to splash a significant percentage of that on Martial.

United will look to recoup as much of the money they spent to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford in 2015 as possible.

Martial signed for an initial £38m, but the transfer was loaded with expensive add-ons which pushed the price up to a maximum of £58m.

United’s determination to maximise income from any Martial sale will be the biggest stumbling block towards a deal, particularly given Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s reputation as a fierce negotiator.

Would love us to pull this transfer off
For some reason I’m strangely indifferent about this one. I know he’s a player with lots of untapped potential but for some reason I just feel a little unenthused about it. To be honest, it’s probably because I just don’t believe Utd will sell him to a direct rival more then anything’s so assume he won’t be joining us. No doubt, if we somehow pulled it off I would be very happy about it, but now I just feel like it will inevitably go nowhere.

Have to admit I assumed it was dead so was shocked to see the Herc ITK and the Mail article tonight.

He tore the league up when he arrived, and he was deadly in spells this season. I think he'd be superb in our setup.

The Utd fans desperately not wanting to lose him, and Utd being pretty keen to sell him outside of PL must count for something too IMHO.

Have to say the raw potential of Bailey has turned my head though!

We WOULD pay the fee for Martial, and wages. Yanited trying to force him elsewhere, out of this country. He wants us and EPL. That much I certainly know.

Not in his or our hands though.

Ties in nicely with the Mail article, makes sense we'd try and thrash it out with Utd in person, grease the wheels a bit.

I think they are too afraid of it coming back to bite them however, and probably rightly so.

Would be a huge player for us. Imagine him, Kane and Son with Eriksen feeding them - that’s without even thinking about Dele

It might not be fully in our hands Herc, but we still have something they want.
We would like Toby to go abroad but...
I know is been said before but this should be a straight swap only. If not Yanited can get big fat manc arses back off the Surrey

I would absolutely love to have him. Genuinely would. But this also seems like the sort of target we go and go and go for and then it just never happens no matter what we do and we end up desperately going for plan E because B, C, and even D are long off the market. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen but ManU are wealthy enough to be stubborn.

Sounds like we need martial ( assuming he wants to come ) to put his foot down and refuse going anywhere else

I believe Utd usually try and get all their deals done before preseason tours though so that could work in our favour.

They do and I genuinely cross all my limbs that it plays out that way but I feel like we've been here before and maybe 1 in 5 times does it work out. Maybe that is why we are hearing names like Pulisic, Bailey, etc to sound out if there is mutual interest there. If we haven't learnt our lesson yet more fool us and we deserve what we get. Even if I hate that as a fan.

Buying a shirt with his name on it and there's NOTHING anyone can do to stop me

I don't suppose you happened to get Villa on the back of your shirt a few years ago, by any chance :nailbiting: :playful:

Just messing with ya! (y)
