I think he has the potential to be brilliant but he will never fulfil that under Mourinho.

Unfortunately I think he seems happy to sit on his wages and stay where he is. Shame.

Yeah, along with Kovacic (which I don't think will happen) this is my most wanted of the players we've been linked with. Think he's class and is exactly the type of attacking mid we need as he can also play as a striker. I certainly don't want another donkey of a backup striker who can only play one position (Hi Rondon).

Couldn't agree more. I'd also most see him as more valuable to us as a striker than a winger but equally I'd want to see him starting most games so he's more likely to end up wide or supporting Kane.

Let's not forget that before he joined Utd he was playing up front for Monaco every week so he's very much a striker natually and is just capable for still being very good if that LWF position.

he is on less than 100k according to a few different reports, he could earn that at Spurs, with the added bonus of playing, and not having a twat manager.

For those who have seen lots of Martial. Are the comparisons (when he signed for United) to Thierry Henry justified?

I did a quick look on Google & there are a fair few different sources & articles that say "Why Anthony Martial is like Thierry Henry" , but I'd rather hear the opinion of people who have seen a fair bit of the lad, rather than the opinion of someone who has probably seen about as much as me, then decided to write an article based on stats.

Interestingly, I did come across an article in which Henry himself said that, at 21 years of age, Martial was a better player than he was at that age - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...td-s-Anthony-Martial-far-better-21-Henry.html

He's still bloody young actually - I'm not 100% sold on him, but frankly I can hardly think of a better realistic target

I wouldn't - talented for sure, but I'd say Martial is more proven and better suited to what we need, with only minimal age difference
Maybe I haven't seen enough of Martial but for me he has struggled in the Prem. We have one player full of confidence versus a player who's confidence must have been obliterated by his time at UTD. I know who I'd bank on to hit the ground running. Perhaps Martial could be the next Henry but if he does it will take lots of time and patience and I'm not sure Poch's "new project" has time for either of those.

Although I admitted I've seen little of Martial, I can't agree that he's struggled in the PL. He's struggled with Mourinho being anti-football & hating all things attacking. You only have to read the article on the post in which I asked for more details about Martial's abilities. It's only from October, so literally the season just finished.

5 goals & 6 assists in his first 9 appearances of the season, only for Mourinho to remember he doesn't like exciting players, and the rest is history.

You do not score 5 goals and get 6 assists in 9 games if you're struggling to adapt to the league. The lad has simply been treated like shit.

Maybe. I just wonder if the people saying not to sell to United for (for arguments sake) £50m now, would be ok if he waited 12 months and joined them anyway for £25m.

Another way of looking at this is that Toby will be a year older and may not regain his form of 2 years ago; so if Manure wants to risk 25 million on him, let them do so. Also, they might not , particularly with Maureen, want to wait a year and go out for another CD if we don't let Toby join them now without the reciprocal trade.
