If we can't get Martial we should be going all out for one of Malcom, Pulisic or Bailey.

Malcom is most definitely available and we could definitely get him if we act decisively.
I've seen a few people say Malcolm has got some serious attitude problems, so I doubt we'll want him. That probably explains why nobody else seems to want him either.

If the fee for Martial is 70-80 mil there are plenty of cm options we could get instead I think.
But you’re right we don’t necessarily need to spend that kind of money on a cm, but better spent there on improving the starting 11 I think than on martial who doesn’t improve the first team.

You'd think so, although they may already be at, or being courted by clubs more attractive than us (most of the top 10).

If we had ITK saying we had a chance of getting a top CM but had to stump up I'd be all for it but we've had nothing of the sort. I'd then get this 'I'd rather drop £60m+ on a CM' rhetoric, but as far as we know the only targets we have are in the £30-40m range, which is still a top fee for a CM not called Paul Pogba. Jorginho and Fred seem to be in the £40m ballpark.

Even the pipedreams of Kovacic or Rabiot could end up coming in closer to that £30m than £60m. I think Lazio are serious about Milinkovic-Savic being 100m Euros.

I think we do need another big attacking option and attackers are the most expensive so it makes sense for this to be the budget for that position.

All of this is also ignoring the hints we've had that we may be moving to a three man midfield in which case we already have our starting 3 in Dier, Dele and Eriksen. The latter two being £100m+ players in their own right.

Whilst I agree central midfield should be the main priority, Martial would improve our first eleven.

He scored 9 in 18 starts for Man U last year and this was in spite of Mourinho's poor management of him.

Not for me mate, if we are looking at him taking one of the three places we have behind Kane, I wouldn’t swap him for Sonny, Eriksen or Dele- but onions and all that.

The main reason I want Martial is he had the versatility to play as a lone number 9 too, but I wouldn't be upset if we targeted Pulisic, Bailey etc either. I know this isn't the thread for it, but I'm surprised considering the type of players we have been linked with, that we haven't seen a Dembele link. He's apparently surplus at Barcelona and is a cracking player

Someone; not from SC btw; just text to ask me rumours are we can get him for just over 50 million. We believed this and were speaking to his people, and him, plus more-very actively. Yanited came out and said he is ‘not for sale’.

I wonder what would happen if he officially puts in a Transfer request & notice? Now that would be interesting. But let’s not frustrate ourselves. If a player is desperate to get away, they would do such. But as I said, his club holds every card.

We explore other options.

IF the transfer request comes, I could see it happening pretty soon.

So we're now the 'holding out'-er rather than the 'holding out'-ee.

That's progress right there.

It's confusing the shit out of me as he was considered an incredible prospect in Jan, still is in my eyes.

I swear people are forgetting just how good Moura can be. Dont get me wrong, if a player like Martial or even Bale are available we should try to sign them. If not then no sweat, it's not a position we're lacking in. I think wing forward is a position that will take a top class signing to improve what we have already. If there's no top class wide forward available then we shouldn't sign anyone in that position.

Couldn't agree more. Way down the list of priorities for me.

There's no way United will sell Martial to us. What will happen eventually Martial will sign an improved contract with favorable terms...just like their keeper did when Madrid came calling.

It's the way of the jungle.

The flaw in your argument is Maureen likes De Gea but doesn’t like or believe in Martial.

Although I agree, imagine the speed And fluidity of our counter attacks with any 3 from Dele, Son, Eriksen, Martial and Moura behind Kane. Also provides flexibility to potentially play Deli and/or Eriksen deeper.

With their lightning fast counter attacks I sort of doubt they'd be behind Kane:whistle:

Just can't get behind a Zaha signing. I know Poch wanted him, but he just seems to drift in and out of games too often to rely on him.

Not sure I agree with that. Everything goes through him at Palace but they are out of games for periods so naturally he’s gonna have quiet spells within games. For me I would say Martial drifts out of games to frequently even when they are dominating he looks disinterested. He lacks a bit of aggression and desire for me whereas Zaha seems to have a real hunger and an edge to his game.
