Maybe because Poch wants Martial? We should be trying for players the manager wants, not the players some fans want.
No I totally agree, I was saying in the event we couldn't get Martial. It's not going to be an easy deal to do seeing as we could give United Toby and then they could refuse to give us Martial.

Going into PlymouthVue to watch Heriditary for the next few hours. If we sign Martial can someone call Graham the manager; he’s agreed to pass me a note during the film. But don’t do it during the scarey bits, you silly nit

Anthony Martial's transfer hopes dented as Manchester United demand MASSIVE fee for the Tottenham target

EXCLUSIVE: Striker also linked with PSG and Real Madrid wants out but Reds' asking price is an eye-watering £75million

Manchester United have slapped a £75million price-tag on unhappy striker Anthony Martial to scare off rival clubs.

United want the youngster to stay and are trying to fend off interest from Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid by demanding so much money.

Their valuation is too much for Spurs, and although no bids have been tabled so far United are keen to kill speculation about Martial's future.

However, the striker has already rejected talks over a new contract, with his frustration growing at spending too much time on the bench.

The 22-year-old joined from Monaco in a £58m deal three years ago, and made an instant impact with a stunning winner against Liverpool on his debut.

But since Jose Mourinho’s arrival as manager in summer 2016, Martial has struggled to impose himself and grab a regular starting spot.

That led to him being left out of the France squad for this World Cup in Russia by boss Didier Deschamps and in a recent outburst - which didn’t go down well at Old Trafford - Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley insisted his client wants to leave.

Martial has two years left on his contract and having made such a huge outlay, United transfer boss Ed Woodward is in no hurry to cut the Frenchman loose.

Mourinho questioned Martial’s application last season – and the pair have an uneasy relationship that is behind his desire for a fresh start.

About the same amount Spurs want for Toby? Just a coincidence I'm sure.

Not entirely sure why their valuation should be 'too much' for us. If we want to compete with the best and be risk takers, like Poch has suggested, then we must pay the going rate to improve our squad.

It's not as if the money isn't there. Toby will go for upwards of 50m. Dembele 20m-30m. That's without any additional sales (Janssen, N'Koudou, Llorente = 30m?)

Time for Levy to back Poch and prove he is serious about winning titles.

My belief is they would sell at circa 65m

I personally think he is worth it in this market. Especially when Palace want 75m for Zaha, and Leicester want 75m for Mahrez. Allegedly ofcourse.

75 million, as a public asking price, even sounds half reasonable in today's crazy market.

Fuck I hope that's true, because it might bring us to the negotiating table.

We shouldn't sell them Alderweireld if they're not prepared to negotiate over Martial, simple for me.

£65m id be happy spending on him but I still doubt United would be willing to sell to us.

Although we still need a creative CM so maybe our funds should be used for that

Thanks, Herc, as ever. Maybe the 65 mill is possible with the creative deals elsewhere. Who knows, but if we push hard for this with Toby going the other way, it could happen now

Would much prefer those funds towards a CM as well, hard to complain about a player like Martial but not sure I totally understand what we're really trying to do.
