We will never know for sure what the figures actually are and how accurate they are being quoted by the media regarding Toby and Martial, but if the valuations are anywhere near the truth, it's funny how it's been alleged that we are apparently being reported as holding out for £70-£75m for Toby, after they allege that Man Utd are offering £50-£55m, and hey presto Marital's reported value by the media is £75m a couple of weeks later. Could it simply be posturing and bluffing and double bluffing to see who blinks first ? Does it really put us out of the running at this price as the tabloids seem hasty to conclude ? No it doesn't if we stick to our guns and say no Martial to us equals no Toby to you.

I think we may be moving to a very similar systems to England and that Martial would would start by playing the Sterling role, whilst also backing up Kane. Son would then back up/ rotate with both, but all 3 would fight for places on form.

Of all the Ams we have been linked with, Martial makes the most sense by far as we'll have striker sorted too. Just a real shame about the CM, I just don't get it but what can we do about it. If it's a budget option then let's hope it's the right type of player at least like Andre Gomes.

I can live without an elite CM if we are serious about a new formation. 4-3-3 gives us the perfect midfield constellation. A goal-scoring b2b mid by Dele, a goal-scoring playmaker mid by Eriksen and a DM by Dier/Wanyama. Although if we are still playing 4-2-3-1, then the double pivot is a huge bottleneck and we will definitely need an elite CM.

Also works if we are playing 3-3-2-2

I think if we got Martial, De Ligt, Barrios and Grealish it would be a good window and give us plenty of options.

I would also like Onamah given a chance in cm too.

Yes I would love bale and a great cm like savic but if we don’t have the money for it; the above with a few sales would improve us and reduce the playing age of the squad again.

Excellent team attacking wise on paper, not so sure about it defensively though

Why would you start Mousa over Son lol

Straight swap for Toby, done deal!

I say bid for martial first, get our end sorted and agreed before coming out out and saying he isn't for sale before then setting a price slightly more than we paid to United! Or then sell him abroad if any teams want him.

I think if son is on one of his hot streaks then he starts imo but otherwise he should be in rotation with moura/martial. I eould prefer the raw pace of moura and martial being backed up by eriksen and alli otherwise.
And as for the defensive concerns go....we will tweek the midfield 3 depending on who we are playing and stratergy. Against most teams in the prem (say top 8 down) this lineup would be best with the maximum amount of goalscorers on the pitch just as city do.
But if we wanted more solid lineup we could push either alli or eriksen into the front 3 in place of moura or martial and put winks/wanyama/barrios into the cm3 with dier.

We would have to play 4-3-3 the way Barca played under Guardiola to make it work. Eriksen and Alli playing the roles of Xavi and Iniesta with Dier in the Busquets role.

Not sure why you would list Martial ahead of Son though. Martial will have his work cut out to get in the team ahead of Son.

Somebody is going to have a good opportunity to claim a spot early this season - Son will miss the first 4 matches. So, if someone establishes themselves as effective in the system - it might be harder for Son to get the position back.

Of course there will be plenty of minutes to go around for everyone who shows they are up for it.
