Reports that the new deal for Fellaini (£110k-120k a week ) was only sanctioned by Utd because Mourinho forced it, using the slow transfer dealings - which I assume includes Toby - as leverage.

So with Jose holding that much sway and wanting Martial out ASAP I think we actually have a decent chance, assuming we are indeed willing to pay the fee as per ITK.

Ultimately I think Jose is enamored enough with Alderweireld to force Woodward's hand in a swap deal near the end of the window despite how set against it they may seem at the moment. We just have to be patient.

Is there no ITK thread for today or am I just not seeing it?

I guess we will see. Feels a little bit like not much is incoming or outgoing at the moment so all just sort of chugging along. Any deal for Martial doing the most chugging along of all of them.

There is no ITK thread. It has also been a while since we really had any ITK so I would not be surprised if A&C sat on creating one until someone pings him they have something to post. Last few days that thread's been a sesspool.

Hopefully that fee will decrease the more and more Mourinho becomes increasingly agitated and applies pressure. Mourinho will no doubt want all of his transfers completed relatively soon (like last season) so I am not so sure this one will drag on until the final day. Soon as Mourinho really pressures Woodward into getting Toby I can see things developing much faster.

Since there's more noise going on in a graveyard than on here might as well share ManU's unofficial blogger's latest 'news' on the Toby and Martial saga

Manchester United stance on Anthony Martial and Toby Alderweireld transfer sagas

Man Utd want Toby Alderweireld and Tottenham want Anthony Martial in the summer transfer window and the clubs discussed a swap.

Manchester United want to keep Anthony Martial and sign Toby Alderweireld despite Tottenham's attempts to arrange a swap deal.

The clubs discussed a possible exchange but United want to keep any negotiations separate, similar to the Romelu Lukaku and Wayne Rooney deals last year.

The MEN revealed United approached Tottenham with a view to concluding a £55million deal for Alderweireld in May but the talks reached an impasse as Spurs held out for a higher fee.

Tottenham contacted United to gauge the possibility of signing Martial after his agent clarified his intention to leave earlier this month but the MEN understands United quoted Spurs 'silly money' for the 22-year-old.

The clubs' struggles to negotiate straight deals has led a swap to be mooted, with Martial and Alderweireld technically out of contract next year. Both players' deals deals include one-year options, although Alderweireld's extension would automatically trigger a £25million release clause in 2019.

if this deal does drag on because neither will let the other have a player before they agree to combine the deals, the Man U will be the better off team, and most probably why they will let it drag on. they won't push hard for Toby till he has come home from the WC and not being injured, which unless Belgium get beat by Japan, will then depend on what happens to Belgium on the 6th v Brazil or Mexico. off course it won't happen straight away, but won't happen until after Belgium are on their way back from Russia.

the longer it drags the less pre-season Martial will see with us, yet Man U will be getting a player that won't need a pre-season due to he is in a comp and fit now.

I will be happy if we get him, but won't be disappointed if we don't. I was so glad Liverpool lost the CL, but now gutted that those 2 goals from Bale have most probably priced us out of the market due to the signing on fee going up a fair bit

Deadline day written allover it.[/QUOTE
Not going to happen written all over it. I recall when Berba left and we got goal machine Fraser on loan a club statement saying our transfer plans had been disrupted by “agent activity” - how pathetic that was.

No I don’t, I was recalling the past and being lazy I must admit by not clarifying that we have moved on a long way since then, I would love a first signing of this window to happen soon that screams intent to threaten!

United (Mourinho specifically) are really pushing for Willian now. That effectively ends any chances Martial has of being a starter next season. He already knows this of course which is why he's asking to leave but I can see himself and his agent getting more vocal about this now and really trying to force a move. As much as the United board probably want to keep him or don't want to sell to us, they will inevitably be backed into a situation in which they need to sell. I can't imagine Mourinho will want him around sulking and the club will know that they are losing value on an asset if he just sits around. It doesn't matter how much money United generate, this is bad for business.

Hopefully all of this transpires and we can reach an agreement with United. If United were truly adamant of not selling him to us then I'm sure we'd have given up some time ago. But something/someone is encouraging us.

Only issue there is that Chelsea are also interested so they could go for a swap too.

That being said they are a bit of a mess right now.

Utd had to match the bid of city as we threatened to report them for tapping up. We got £6m more than they previously offered.
