After reading those quotes again I fear Poch is going to be extremely annoyed no early signings have been made. People can use whatever excuse they want but Poch identified it as critical to his strategy to challenge this season.

The existing players have only been back in training a few days - there's an awful lot of bed wetting over nothing in statements like this at the mo.

While I don't see the benefit of picking different Poch quotes from different times and using them as evidence of differing opinions, if y'all wanna do it for about 15/16 more pages so Levy knows this deal is a go that would be swell. Carry on (y)

Bed wetting? I think our manager knows what we need to do to have a chance to title challenge which he stated, ur a fool to think otherwise.

Let’s just wait and see what happens ffs. If we are still sitting here in the last week of the window with no ins or outs then fair play. But it was more than obvious nothing was going to happen until after the World Cup.

I agree but I can see why people are getting a bit tetchy. I'm starting to get a little nervous myself, although I highly doubt we won't sign anyone. Less than four weeks of the window left, players missing huge chunks of an important preseason (Poch's preseasons seem to have a greater significance due to his demands), not too mention new signings tend to take a bit longer to bed in for us.

With Kane needing a good rest (likely two weeks, perhaps more?), Alli also and Sonny missing for the start, that's a huge amount of goals gone from the side and two very important attacking players playing catch up in terms of fitness and form.

Hopefully Kane and Alli get some rest and are able to come straight back in with no fuss, hopefully the likes of Moura and Lamela step up and give us no concerns. Or even better, hopefully we bring in an additional attacker within the next couple of weeks so that they are able to get some minutes and bed in a little bit. I think that would settle most down (optimistic maybe).

Poch seemed comfortable with our transfer strategy last preseason but after a few months you could see that it was something that he didn't want repeated. He maybe happy to wait again but if it has repercussions on how we start/or end the season I can see him starting to become a little irate again.

Anyway, let's hope Martial or someone of similar ilk comes in very soon and we can start to look forward to the season.

Yeah agreed. Don't get me wrong it can be annoying to see so many others spending when we're not, but there's literally no point in complaining about our business or lack of until the window is actually closed, because there's still every chance that we can have a really good window.

The issue is that with so many strong teams at the top it is so very easy to fall behind and end up chasing all season. We need to get out the blocks fast and i hope we can win the first 3/4 games just to get some momentum up fast rather than falling behind and spend most the season comparing fixture to others and hoping THEY drop points.

Sure, I can imagine him saying "We would have won the league if I had an extra 1 week's training with Grealish" :bored:

Our non-WC players have only had a few days training so far. Most of our team has only just finished playing WC matches today, and Hugo won't until tomorrow. You could sign a player that has been in the WC and still not have him in training for a few week's.

Yes, it's Bed Wetting.

I'm not sure why people want to worry about something that the person who said it obviously isn't even worrying about.

You can disagree all you like "old bean", Poch said it; I just quoted him verbatim. Now you can choose to stick your head up your arse and blithely ignore that fact, or can wake up and recognise it an an accepted truth; from the horses mouth. Good effort though!

just a quick question but how many high profile transfers where completed by any of the top 6 teams by the 3rd of July? if the figures we expected to get players in for hadn't of changed we might of had 1 or 2 by now. if your expecting high profile signings in the next 10 seasons by the time we start pre season, your going to be as angry as you always are

Regardless of who we sign we aren’t going to win the league this Season. You’re a fool if you think otherwise.
I don’t honestly think we’re likely to win the league this season but I still hope we do. One of maybe 5/6 clubs that have a varying degree of chance. Should we not at least try? To categorically dismiss this small chance before it happens is the foolish statement I reckon. (y)

he also quoted in his book that he knows how difficult it is to sign players in a WC season.

we have enquired about players not involved in the WC and all have been way above the budget we believed or their club won't let go. we don't have oil money where we can just spend 10-20 extra on a player we believe was for sale or available for the amount we have been told

Point out where I said we shouldn’t try?

The simple fact is that our best players are going to be weeks behind in terms of training and fitness so in order to mount a realistic challenge we’d need to sign highly capable players, not just to fill last seasons deficiencies but to cover for the players who aren’t going to be firing on all cylinders until November.

He said challenge for the title. That should 100% be the aim of the club. Maybe City will walk it again but to not aim to be up there along with the other clubs after the past three years would be utterly pathetic. This was a huge summer and so far we are not doing what we should be, still plenty of time left though at least.

Lol some of the rating being given out really do identify the banana heads on here, City have the title won for the next couple of years.
I'd say the banana heads are the ones giving anyone the title before a ball is kicked, but that's for a different thread.

I can’t understand why a lot of people are losing it. New kits are out Monday and new Spurs store opens too, I would imagine it’s highly likely (through various itk’s) we will have at least one player through the door next week, holding up a shiny new kit. People calm down you know this is how we do business.

In addition, clubs are only likely to be willing to let players leave who they don't want to keep - the fact that we're obviously trying to sign players that the clubs are reluctant to lose should be seen as a positive.
