Boateng is finished at the top level.

If they signed him instead of Toby, that would be a very big sigh of relief for the rest of the league,

This is BS. Boateng has shown significant defensive frailties as well as a very sketchy injury record. No way this is what Utd go for this.

You're probably correct. Maybe Bayern are trying to force PSG's hand in this..who knows

A lot of people will support the team come what may, even though they disagree with the policies from the Board. They will continue to shell out for season tickets even though they feel ripped off. IMO, Levy is playing with fire given the ITK that Poch could walk if he doesn't feel backed. We'll see how that pans out I guess.

The thing is if the players that Pochettino wanted to be backed with cost a lot more than expected, and its proved that Levy attempted to back him, why will Poch walk. Sometimes promises are impossible to keep if circumstances change that make those promises hard. If Pochettino wanted 4 players at the start and we understood that was possible with our budget, the minute their price goes up stupidly then the 4 targets might end up being just 2. I’m sure if Pochettino sees Levy is attempting to get his targets he will be happy, if he finds out Levy is going ott under the prices then I’d expect him to feel unhappy.

I’m sure Pochettino would rather go with what we got, than signing option Z’s

Boteng is a serial winner give the man some respect.
Paolo Maldini was probably the best LB ever but that doesn't mean he should/would be a current transfer candidate for any top team. Properly assessing a players current abilities does not equate to disrespect. If he no longer has it or the prospective setup doesn't suit him then it is fair to point it out.

Boateng was at his best when he was 'protected' by Pep's possession game and he could sweep up in behind and distribute the ball from the back without much pressure as it was suicide to press that high against them. At Utd his biggest assets would be negated by the low block and basic defensive setup.

None of this has anything to do with disrespecting his accomplishments or current abilities.

Has he put in a transfer request? if not then surely he should, i know he would loose out on his loyalty bonus but if he wants out that badly then it seems he will have to force the move.
Usually the only way a player puts in a transfer request is if he's going to be compensated accordingly by the buyers.

It's going to be difficult, but Toby is still the one Mourinho wants, and while that is the case my opinion is there is still a chance this can happen.
