Because we aren't a top 3/4 club :ROFLMAO:

We are a 6th placed club finishing top 3/4, not a top 3/4 club failing to finish 1st.
I agree, but surely we have the financials to push on? The revenue we gained this year was crazy. Plus apparently the stadium is not affecting our budget.

In reality, bringing in Martial and Brozovic for example, on decent length contracts, if take a hit on seeing if Demebele could be part of the Brozovic deal, protect yourself against him going for free, and also free up another HG space. Move Nkoudou and Janssen also, plus Tony as part of the Martial deal, and we'd be a lot closer.
Further to that, the likes of Brozovic and Martial are not likely to be next years Sissoko, Llorente, Janssen and Nkoudou, taking up spaces that we can't shift, they're genuine quality, not punts.
Add in Grealish and we're already closing on the quota increase for 2020.

We're at a stage of gambling, maybe this is Poch's be brave comment. If we wait to move players first, then we run the risk of missing out on squad improvements. If we buy now and overload a little, we still have the option of selling after our window closes. Once it closes, if offers still come in and we haven't already bought, it's too late to make additions then, which means we accept bids and go with a threadbare squad, or have to keep players we'd rather shift just to maintain depth, and then have to try all over again next window. Offers will come in after our window closes, likely offers for someone like Llorente from Spain or Italy. Time to be brave.

I agree completely. Let's be honest 95% of Tottenham fans knew Sissoko was shit so he wasn't exactly a gamble, just a pretty poor signing under the circumstances.

They dared to bring in shit in hope he'd come good yet refuse to dare to bring in quality in case he turns out shit. They've got it all backwards this brave malarkey

Mate we literally cannot buy 2 non-HG players unless we loan or sell FOUR more on top of Toby.

It's not a case of finances, it's the rules of the Champion's League.

It's looking like we MIGHT get one non-HG, but my money is on zero.

Surely if we end up with one or two extras, we can just leave them out if the CL squad and use them in domestic cups.

I mean you’re talking about making at least seven moves as if it’s easy just child’s play huh

What do you mean "push on"? There's other teams in the league as well, all trying their best to push on also. We don't just buy one or two player's and then win a league.

This same logic get's applied by people when it comes to selling players or even buying them. "Just do Toby and 30m for Martial" etc :ROFLMAO: as if we are competing against some sort of fucking computer who is forced to accept our offers or deal at our prices.

Everyone is trying to do the best they can for their club, and Levy has almost everyone else over the kitchen table with a gimp mask on, so whatever is the best deals we can possibly do, I have faith that the little bald prick will get as close as anyone can to that.

Maybe but many of us remember bing a regular finisher in the 10th to 16th spots year after year after year. To seeing us docked points and kicked out of the FA cup for financial irregularities. Being excited by strikers like Ronny rosenthal signing for the club. Where we are now to then is chalk and cheese room. What Lewis and levy have done for this club, that was no better than the likes of West Ham, to elevate us to a point where fans get so outraged at a lack of superstar signings is increadible and deserves the upmost respect from all fans, even those that didn’t witness the last 30+ years. I get there is an opportunity and it feels that we may be missing out but we honesty don’t know why things aren’t happening, people have assumed it’s all levy but he has earned our trust and respect so I will defend until we see our team dropping back. In short I couldn’t have dreamed we would be playing the likes of Real Madrid infront of 90000 people at home in my lifetime let alone consider ourselves regulars at the top table so forgive me for seeing the success in our teams achievements. Doesn’t mean I want it to stop
I totally agree but that argument is a bit binary - like the 'not wanting to do a Leeds' debate. The progress that we've made over the last 20 years has been great but I don't want us to rest on our laurels forever and be grateful that we're not a mid table side anymore and neither do I expect a superstar signing. What I do want us to do is address areas of the team that were a weakness last season and give ourselves a shot at maintaining a title challenge and going for a trophy. It's getting more and more competitive at the top end of the table.

It would seem that one way or the other, this window will go down in infamy as one of the strangest we’ve witnessed over the last twenty years and probably the next twenty.

The latest from ITK on Martial is indicative of the diametrically opposed information we’ve encountered from various sources over the summer.

At this point I really don’t know what to believe or think. On the surface, we have four days to go and haven’t made any moves, which seems criminal and irresponsible. But, then again, we could end up with three new players by 5pm Thur and it’ll seem like a stroke of genius.

If we can make Martial a part of Toby leaving that’ll be brilliant. But let’s face it, he’s not the most critical need we have. CM x2 is what we need. Perhaps the Toby money will help this happen.

Fingers and all other bits n bobs crossed.

At the end of the day, according to ITK it seems like Levy is playing chicken with some of the biggest clubs in world football. Isn't that what we all wanted? To stop being bent over by the elite?

If I was a betting man I'd say it's far more likely that we'll use the £60m to buy Grealish and a DM than swap Toby for Martial and then still need to spend on a CM/DM.

If you think what we are doing in this transfer window is stressful (nothing) then you have no idea how the spurs faithful felt after the Schoular debacle. For someone like myself who saw his first game in 1951 and have been a regular ever since .I must say taking family out of the equation it was the most stressful period in my life as we were in a position where we would have been relegated to the old fourth division but thankfully our shining knight came along and the rest is history its just a shame that Sugar was not a football man if he was like Levy we would have been a regular in the champions league every season. So stop whining and count your blessing but most of all have faith Levy will not let us down

I guess that would depend on what kind of kinky shit you’re into... Daniel certainly has an air of 50 Shades of Pay about him! :wtf:
