So if it's sweeteners in the deal should Martial be a success or no Martial at all, we walk away from it or sell them Toby without using him as real leverage?

There's so many things to decide over the next day or two I have no idea how our squad will be looking come Thursday evening :s
No, and I'd fully expect us to want to structure any deal in such a way, as to save on the up-front fee, and minimize our risk if for some reason he should not work out.

However, with a buy-back clause, it would only end i tears if he realised his potential with us, and then United could just poach him back at an already set fee.

IMO Toby should only be sold if he can be used as leverage in a deal for Martial, no Martial, no Toby sale.

The longer it goes on without the TA deal being announced the more likely the swap gets in my opinion - Jose will be stomping round Carrington, demanding he is backed, Woodward may well cave. still think it’s unlikely and when push comes to shove levy will sell but still a chance in my book.

If the window closes and Toby is still at Spurs and Martial is still at United, the real winner is Manchester City.

Oh and I guess Chelsea, when they activate Toby’s release clause next season.

In all likelihood both would just be sold overseas before the end of the month. I imagine there are a few clubs (like PSG) watching their situation and waiting to see if a quality player falls into their lap on the cheap.

Am I the only one that think Martial would only be a squad player for us? He will add some pace, but no way near gpod enough to be a starter for us.
Martial would start for us imo, subject to the usual rotation etc.

Yeah the winner is City because Spurs and Utd keep a top player in their squads. Ermmm

If Toby can be used for Martial great dependent on how much we'd have to pay on top. If United want only to buy Toby then we set a minimum few of 65 Million and get Leon Bailey from Leverkusen, hopefully pay from the Toby sell Grealish and Bailey. either way its a good deal for Tottenham.

or even Liverpool . It doesn't matter we'd of got another season out from him made and made a profit. To be honest I think we've already moved on from Toby last season with the emergence of Sanchez plus we have Foyth Dier and of course the much improved Vertoghen

He's not better than Son, so I agree with you - the two of them would rotate.

Gards doesn't think Martial will come our way in toby deal

Seen this but I dunno, I just can't believe that this would be the case, even for Levy.

As I said before in another thread, Gards is being super negative at the moment. Calling Levy a disgrace etc. I can't really recall what his record is like but we have other ITK's, more than 1, saying that we're gonna push for Martial. Equally Football London (Ally Gold) are saying we'll try for him as well.

As Trix has said before, all ITK's have different sources so I'm not gonna take what Gards says as gospel right now as he seems to have a bit of an agenda.

I have a very hard time imagining that Toby ends up at United unless we receive Martial back. I guess there's a scenario where we sell him for 75 mil pounds and buy De Ligt for less, but otherwise people would lose their ****. Levy can't be immune to that (well, not entirely at least :)

One thing that gives me the slightest glimmer of hope is the massive cut of any profit (some percentage of any fee in excess of 58m) that United would owe to Monaco. That would seem to open the door to a cheeky part-exchange deal.

Let's say hypothetically we agree a valuation of 60m for Toby and United are holding out for 90m for Martial (i.e. the valuation agreed upon for Toby plus 30 million). We could drop our asking price for Toby to 28m and give them 58m for Martial, they would then effectively get their full valuation but without owing Monaco a dime.

Levy has previous for this kind of deal, IIRC there was a similar set of circumstances surrounding the double deal for Davies and Vorm which allowed Swansea to skirt a sell-on percentage. I'm not necessarily holding out hope that we'll complete a deal for Martial but a part-exchange seems much more feasible than buying him outright in light of the clause they have with Monaco.

I have to be honest, the only way this window is salvageable for me is if we sign Martial or resurrect some miraculous move for Zaha along with pushing through Grealish.

Anything less and I'll consider this summer to have been a major disappointment.

Say even for Levy but when push comes to shove I can't see him paying toby to not play and lose out on 25ish million in transfer fee. Hope I'm wrong because I could come to terms with not addressing CM if we get Martial.
