Anti Spurs bias on BBC

I don't agree with the idea of the BBC being anti-Spurs (although they crossed a line last season when they published that pathetic open letter by Jeremy Vine declaring his support for Leicester as a Chelsea fan). I have however tired of Phil Mcnulty still writing as many Liverpool articles he would have done when he worked for the Liverpool Echo, and BT Sport is turning into the UK's own version of Marca such is their obsession with Liverpool.

On the subject of decent pundits, Danny Higinbotham is excellent and very balanced. Someone should have a clear out of their existing 'experts' and build a show around his and Jenas' punditry as its much more insightful than what the likes of Henry and Quinn churn out on Sky.

There are a few ex Spurs on radio but tv is bbc not sky.
I dont mind who does it as long as they've no history with whos actually playing or if they do can we have both sides of the coin please.
It works both ways as well. When Clive Allen or Waddle do it they sometimes actually go the other way, knocking us and you wonder what game they're watching.
I'm sure it wouldnt be beyond the powers of all these big media outlets to have a commentator from both teams or neither but it seems very 1 sided most of the time.
Not just for Spurs. You had Newcastle Sunderland last season with bloody Nial Quinn commentating ffs, I mean really???
I think that's an interesting point, as we were definitely quite notorious as a club for not treating our ex-players that greatly. I think we are better at it now, but definitely the ex-Liverpool players in particular were treated as Gods around Anfield, and their used their voice in the media accordingly.

You can tell everybody sees some level of bias when even Liverpool fans are complaining about it...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ias-following-manchester-united-vs-liverpool/

Me and a Liverpool fan at work moan about Tyler all the time. The problem with him isn't that he's often biased to/against a particular club, it's more that he:
a) Gets massively caught up in the atmosphere at the game, and so often favours the home team; and
b) Obsesses over the possible narrative and easy headlines (i.e. was willing Rooney to score yesterday and was massively pro-Leicester last spring).

If you listen to his comms from September when Liverpool won at Stamford Bridge he sounds distraught when Henderson scores a worldie to put Liverpool 2 up. But when commentating at Anfield he sounds like he's about to join in with You'll Never Walk Alone.

I can't believe the anti Spurs bias in this article! He only thinks we've got the best goal keeper, full backs, centre backs, midfield pair and striker in the league. What about the rest of the side!!! To be fair he does say that better players probably wouldn't work as well because of the understanding that the other players have together.

Am I the only person who likes Martin Tyler as a commentator, and doesn't think he is bias to any particular team? Be pretty shit if a commentator showed zero emotion for each goal, for fear of not appearing impartial.

No, I like him. Not everyone supports a premier league team. I think he coaches one of his local clubs as well so probably more interested in them than Liverpool or United.

martin tyler is such a suck up to the sky four
the proof is that if you listen to his commentaries he will applaud a top goal for any side outside the sky four but not too much
whereas if it is a goal by one of the sky four he screams as if somebody has grabbed his gonads making him sound like a screaming bitch
he is not the only biased twat does anybody remember the comeback against west ham when the winning goal went in the pundit said "oh no"cant emember his name but he was an evertonian ;the goal was scored by stalteri
on sky when giving his views on the spurs v liverool efl tie walsh commented that spurs were pressing for a goal but he hoped spurs would not score
real pro and unbiased prick

Spot on. Tyler is one of those commentators who talks about the game they *want* to be happening rather than the game that actually *is* happening. "Oh what a love pass" when in reality it's just a hopefully hoof up the channel to no one, or that inicident in the article involving Rooney. He's a nightmare.

I work for Sky, and towards the end of last season after Leicester had sealed the title, there was an article running on the internal website that all staff see first thing in the morning. It was basically one big jizzfest about how "amazing" Sky's coverage has been. I didn't hold back in singling out the bias, in particular Mr Tyler. I just had to get it off my chest because it's so obvious and gets worse every year. They actually think they're doing a good job and people like listening to the crap that comes out of their mouths. We only turn it on because we want to watch the actual match.

I noticed earlier that BBC had an article called 'Can Liverpool close the gap on Chelsea?'. They've only just changed it from Liverpool to Spurs, presumably because an editor came along who knows how league tables work.

Well classic BBC, poor old Man City, Shearer 'that's not handball for me, ball to hand not hand ball', no close up view, just move on to the next Man City injustice!! What a joke!!! Also no mention of the foul on Wanyama before their first!!

They also said we were defensively poor. Which we were.

They also said Lloris made a mistake, despite otherwise being an excellent keeper. Which he did.

Pretty much spot on in their comments today.

Liverpool will do better than Spurs for SEO. Just saying

This is exactly it. He tries to crowbar an "Agueroooooo" moment into every 10 mins. It's so try-hard. He wants every line to be momentous. Ends up strangely flat

There literally isn't a TV station or pundit who isn't a ****.

A most interesting phenomenon :D

I don't think they'd get a job if they weren't nowadays to be fair. It seems to me that the tv companies want is people saying controversial things e.g. Savage and Sutton

Also see Jake Humphrey taking the piss out of Gerrard on BT last night too for him slip against Chelsea. Completely uncalled for and should be reprimanded for something like that. Gerrard took it well to be fair but he had no choice. They're all bellends.
