In an ideal world Antonio Conte would like to have both versions of Harry Kane in his Tottenham team.

The one that is the prolific goalscorer, lethal in front of goal, and intent on breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record, and the other whose creative instincts and passing range when dropping deep into the second forward role have contributed to so many of his side’s goals this season.

If only there was one who had Premier league experience and an existing understanding with Harry Kane and had already played for Conte and was available on a free...

It would require an adjustment to Conte's preferred formation to play a conventional no. 10 behind Kane. Son wouldn't be dropped, so Kulusevski/Lucas/Bergwijn would need to make way, in favour of a 3-5-2 setup.

We know Eriksen can play as part of a mobile, rotating front 3, presumably starting notionally on the right, but that's not really a no. 10 role.

He's over 30, he has a pacemaker and he's unlikely to play 90 minutes in every match. If he is keen to come, he would be an asset. A few of our midfielders and attackers could learn quite a bit from him.

People seem to be trying to fit him into a starting Conte XI, not being able to do it and concluding he's not someone we should be looking at. Doesn't work like that. Liverpool have Salah, Firmino and Mane as probable starting attackers but they've spent significant money on Jota and Luis Diaz who can cover those players for injuries, tournament absences, rotation or just bench options. You need that to keep the starters motivated to remain starters too.

Eriksen's played 90 minutes in his three starts for Brentford and they won all three. And lost the one against Leicester he didn't play. He's scored and assisted several for club and country in the same spell. This isn't some kind of charity case - the guy is elite and has at least two or three more seasons at the top. If we don't profit from what he has to offer someone else will. Guaranteed.

We will have limited funds, especially if we don't get CL, so we will definitely try to bring Eriksen who will be a free agent. If we get CL I doubt he turns us down.

Silly Billy, clearly he meant Matthew Etherington. Was he a 10?

That **** embarrassed 12 year old me when he was a mere 6 years old, in a St John's Ambulance charity fundraising thing, in Par, down here in Cornwall (he was born in Truro)

I thought I was a fucking good player back then, too.

His Dad bet him a fiver he couldn't make you look a mug too. He won the fiver (easily) which resulted in a life long gambling addiction which he struggles with to this day. How different things could have been if he hadn't met you Coops.
