Antonio Conte has said that he will give Dele Alli chances in his Spurs side, but he wants each member of the squad to prove to him why they deserve to play.

Dele's career has not progressed as was expected of him. During Conte's previous spell in England, the midfielder had the world at his feet, but has since become a mere squad player at Spurs.

I'm hoping Conte is the manager to rejuvenate Alli and Winks. Both were such good players but lost something physically and mentally following injuries.

Alli's problems are nothing to do with past injuries, not physical ones anyway. To me, I feel everything just fell right for him up until 3 years ago and now he's been found out. He was spoilt and protected by football up until then but now needs to adapt to the reality that he's not fully developed yet. I actually still think he'll do it but this challenge has broken him at least once already. If Conte doesn't get him going then I sense he'll end up in the championship but he'll do okay there. He's nothing to be ashamed of.

I think it’s life style choices. Dele was never a player that relied on athleticism or pace, so given his age it’s highly unlikely these two factors have declined. It’s much more to do with attitude- how many distractions is he prone to? He completely lacks the hunger and verve that characterised his early career. I hear people frequently say to get the best out of him he should be played in the CAM/ second striker role, but he’s got to want it with all the desire he had a few years ago, otherwise he’s just another passenger, just another player that ultimately disappointed

There's obviously a lot going on with Winks and Dele, who've lost their form (Dele more so than Winks IMO)... Jose was right about Dele and was working on bringing him back while Nuno, I feel brought him back way too early, knocking things back to square one. Let's see what Conte can do to resurrect both Winks and Dele... I'd love to see them both at their best again!

One of the few players who can run in this team, doesn't mean a whole lot when you have 0 key passes, interceptions, tackles in multiple games but still. Last dance for him, if he doesn't make it with Conte then he never will (with us at least).

Watching old videos of Alli his best seasons he was playing up very close to and running beyond Kane. You don't get the best of him unless he's up top. Either play him there or move him on.

Sons playing where Dele should be and is a better player.

I'm a bit fed up of Dele and others getting all these second chances. They've had enough and they've proven themselves unreliable each time. Poch, Jose and Nuno all gave up on him.

Some of these lot should have been flogged ages ago.

I still struggle with Poch saying he is Ronaldinho level genius. What am I missing...!

Wish I didn't agree. Feels like we've heard this one too many times. Bored of it now to be honest, in terms of Dele especially. I dont see what he offers any more.

This is it. Its like when we buy a player who looks mustard, Lamela, Lo Celso, Ndombele for example, then play them in a position that doesn't get the best out of them and go 'ooh they dont look very good do they?' Well no. Play them where they can do the most damage and if not move them on.
Not rocket science. Its a problem when, as a club, you have no direction. No style of play, managers coming in with different styles so youve no idea how player a or b is gonna fit the next coach who walks through the door. As I said, not rocket science. We need an identity or we'll be pissing in the wind for a long while. Get players and coaches on the same wavelength. Not offensive, defensive, offensive, defensive, defensive, TBD.

I’m sure conte will give all the players a chance (again unfortunately) but he won’t be coming in without some preconceived ideas and opinions. He’ll find out all he needs to know about the members of the squad from people at the club.

I am beginning to suspect all these players to be given a chance under new managers are the same ones causing them to eventually lose their jobs.

Peformed badly, down tools, get gaffers sacked, try to get new guy to give them new chance for a bounce. Rinse and repeat. Happend too fucking often.

I think Dele has the physical tools that Conte likes, it's the mentality that may not suffice.

Conte has to say he's giving everyone a chance- but who knows what's going on behind closed doors?
Whatever is going on it's being kept in house and I hope it stays that way until a definitive resolution is found one way or the other

Flogging seems harsh. Maybe a stern one to one behind closed doors...???
