talk about crap class of 62 talks.Ihave been going to spurs since 1951 I started taking my children all four of them sometimes in the late seventies and early eighties but I had to pack it in for a few years in the eighties because of these yobs with the mindset mentioned by 62 I started spoil the whole experience for those who wanted to watch there team and not go to a game for fights and if you check it out attendances were falling so badly thru the aggro years if it had gone on any longer the game would have died. Thankfully all seating came along and put paid to there violence. As to atmosphere it has always and will always be the same play well and win = good vibes play badly and lose =bad vibes. The real supporter goes win lose or draw ;unfortunately there are still a few games that violence is not far away such as West Ham;chelsea;arsenal;man until and Liverpool you also hope not to draw Cardiff or Millwall etc in the cups .To suggest that the type of fan that 62 is made the atmosphere is rubbish as it was these people that were killing the atmosphere. The new stadium will I am sure be a success and the atmosphere will be fine as long as we can keep out the macho boys. When we played Glasgow rangers in the 60s or Milan in the 70s there was crowds of 60.000 and no aggro .Being a fan has nothing to do with being aggressive for people like myself its about being a spur thru thick and thin good and bad

I'm losing interest in football altogether. The only thing keeping me even following football from a distance is this forum.

Big social for me, decent sized group of us who go, we have a few beers, take the piss out of each other and we've had some brilliant days/trips home, away and abroad....

Without that wouldn't bother with a season ticket, I love the game but if I'm not at a match prefer to watch indoors so I can see and hear everything properly....downside to going to games or pubs to watch is listening to people talk some utter shit during the match....

Just been sent a text of kanes goal via whatsapp from few friends and i couldnt give a crap. Shall we put that in the trophy cabinet with our shiny new stadium?

Football has been ruined by the likes of chelsea, city, psg. Literally have no hope now. we almost won the lottery last year but it was stolen by some dubious refereeing.

Its ok if you have a local team to follow like most people here but if its not local, its so pointless. Such a waste of time.

Levy doesnt give a crap about winning trophies anyway, no doubt he'll leave things as late as possible in transfer window. The only time we sorted things out early is when we didnt botther signing anyone. He is such a bald headed twat.

Spot on mate and same for me. Football has changed and the chances of actually winning anything are pretty slim, Man City have won 6/8 of the last domestic trophies available I believe and then there is the champions league where we nearly won the lottery last year but as good as we are getting is an awfully hard tournament to get to the final never mind win, just look at PSG/Man.City and all their billions and neither of them have even made it to a semi final yet I think...

So for me football and supporting spurs is now about going to the games with friends and family, enjoying the atmosphere and wins and goals and moments and enjoying the ride as spurs have improved on and off the pitch, celebrate the failings of our rivals when the fuck up and cling to some hope that we will win something at some point soon but really football has been ruined a tad from a competitive standpoint so you have to kind of just view it differently now.

Still enjoy it as will always love football but I also see where the football purists are coming from and why some fans don’t enjoy it quite as Much anymore.

You could also say that how the tactics and coaching have improved so much the games are so much tighter and more tactical which on one hand is like watching an intriguing skilful chess match but on the other hand you loose those moments of madness and stupidity as the quality is so much higher now than it used to be.

Yeah, cracking goal wasn’t it?

Didn’t read the rest. Probably didn’t miss much. Just the usual preseason optimism I’d guess.

Have you seen this video? I've posted it before but it's interesting to see how much the football fan has changed since the early 80s.

Why go on a football forum if you don't like football ?
I would not go to a cricket match or view a cricket forum if I did not like cricket.
I would not go to the cinema if I did not like movies.
Am I missing something here please enlighten me on why you are on a football forum if you don't like football.
For myself most of my life is boring and repetitive and apart from my family life it has given me some memories that I will never forget and these memories go back as far as 1951 .
It was only last season that the Man City and Ajax games gave me moments I will cherish till the day I die and whilst I agree about PSG/Juventus?Man City / Chelsea ruining competition with their money spent with seemingly not having to be fiscally aware I still have a proberbly stupid hope that a club like ours can break this hold held by cash rich clubs and all done organically and by that I mean only spending what you earn with no attempt to cheat FFP

Watching that on my day off in Japan has brought out a little tear, coming out of WHL station, buying a program from the stall outside the old supporters club, waking around to the shelf to jib the queue for the pen enclosure, those were such great days as a young fan.

You seriously think we have less chance of winning something now than in the 90s ? We were never ever gonna win the league in the 90s and even the 80s was faint hope. And we certainly had no hope of winning the European cup then. If we were in Europa next season we’d be favourites but I’d rather not thank you. We’ve been in 8 domestic semi finals recently and a final and blown it.We’ve had our chances and blown it. There have always been utterly dominant teams Liverpool in 70s 80s United the next 20 years. This could well be the most exciting decade in the Clubs history. I’ve never been more invested in THFC than I am now and loving every minute of it.

Thanks for this, cracking film. There's a danger of nostalgia painting a rosy picture of football grounds years ago, they were filthy and dangerous as Valley Parade, Hillsborough and others showed. Some great days though, a million miles from the snooker table pitches and corporate world of today which if I'm honest I much prefer.

It was great making that walk wasn't it. You could feel the excitement building up as you got closer to the stadium.
