Hi all,

My boy is mascot for us vs Reading on the 29th Dec, i've had the itinary etc for the day but just wondered if anyone had done this and if you could share your experience to give me more of an idea what to expect?

Gutted i can't go and meet the players, the boy gets into his strip and goes off without me :( :(

I was mascot myself when i was a kid in the 94/95 season, we lost 3-0 at Notts County in the Coca Cola Cup third Round, what a night though, Klinsmann, Sheringham etc etc.

 Good luck to your boy, P99, i don't doubt he'll have an unforgettable day

Sorry, no offspring that the courts have made me aware of yet, so can't offer any advice, cept give him a camera, wire him for sound and tell him to snap away at everything and ask as many awkward questions as he can - kids can get away with that kind of thing and maybe he can be a young-ITK

No, seriously, i bet he'll have a blast

So it was you who got Ossie sacked! Let’s hope the bad luck isn’t hereditary! :)

Thats so cool. I always wanted to be a mascot. Was thinking of applying for a game over christmas/new year. My girlfriend thinks its a bad idea - she thinks that lennon walking out the tunnel holding hands with a 6'2" 29 year old man might look wierd, but she is foreign.

Make sure your lad gets some pics and some real news about King's legs, Defoe's contract and who we're really after in the transfer window. Maybe he could nick some stuff and ebay it, too.

Hope you and your son have a wonderful time. I would love my little boy to be able to do that in a few years time.

Good luck

I was mascot for Tranmere Rovers , I wasn't allowed in the changing rooms though, I only got to meet the players on the pitch.
Hope he has a brilliant day, I'm so jealous!

I was a mascot once. It was lovely getting to share the Referee's changing room. He even gave me a bath before hand, which was nice of him. Then he helped me slip into my freshly pressed kit.

Aaah. . the memories.

My boy was one of three mascots for Us against ManU, the 5 - 3 game back in 2001, he carried the ball out at the start with TeddyS and had his picture taken in the centre circle, Beckham had his arm around his shoulders in the group picture.... i remember he was gutted that it wasn't TeddyS.

They must have changed the rules as the Dad's went into the player tunnel as well and met some of the players from both teams after they had warmend up. But the best bit was that the three Dad's followed the teams out at the start and got to wait for our sons on the touch line....'FANTASTIC' the noice down at pitch side :eek:mg: one of my best Spurs moments, i'll see if i can find the picture to post on here.

We also went to the players lounge before and after the game, i remember it was a lot happier environment before the game.........

You and your son have a great day out.... i know we did

How's does it work ? did you have to apply and wait ages for a game to come up or do you just pay and select a game (subject to availabilty)

Yes it was the week that Ossie got the sack, he actually got the sack the following wkend after the Villa game but he was clearly under pressure that night, as an eleven year old i found him quite arrogant and rude because he ignored me etc, he was pacing up and down the changing room. Years later in fact last november at the Memorabilia show in Birmingham i met him and Ricky and Steve Perryman and mentioned it to them, we had a laugh about it and when he signed my picture he wrote on it FORGET THE BLOODY NOTTs COUNTY GAME!! I'll post a pic of it tommorow if you'd all be interested.

I'm sure he's gonna have a wonderful day, cant wait.

In response to the question about how you go about it, you basically ring Spurs up and get on the waiting list, ive been on it a good 18 months though.

Yes mate,

My boy was a mascot for Citeh at home in 02/03...he had a superb day. Players, changing room, out on the pitch but this was when there were only 3 mascots (he was chosen from a draw) and so he was able to not only go to the centre-circle, he got to have a kick-around with them for 5 mins too. I told him not to be shy, thus his first move on running out in front of the Paxton was to gesture to Teddy he needed a pass!!!
Teddy gave him TWELVE passes (I counted them) and he scored twice past Keller (one was a fine shot!)...he was the last one off the field. I had my missus on the touchline taking photos so as I could just stand and watch...take it all in...players lounge was nothing new as I've had mates who played for us before, but watching my lad, in the kit, on the pitch, swapping passes with Teddy on a near-perfect afternoon weather-wise, was such a remarkable experience...
Advice?
Bring a camera.
Take it as slowly as possible.
Give your kid an autograph book...
It was a tremendous day.

How do you get your kids to be a ballboy/girl?

Also do they allow disabled kids on as my little girl is in a wheel chair....

You'll have a fantastic day, my little girl was mascot against Portsmouth last Oct when Zokora dived to win a pen. We had a great day, she was the smallest on the day so she got to go out with Ledley. I couldn't believe it when she walked out on to the hollowed turf, holding his hand, she got to go to the centre circle to meet the ref and then went and had a kick about with Ledley, Robbo and Daws, absolutely awsome. Had great craic during the game also as she joined in the booing of campbell and Adams, with great vigour even though I told it wasn't very sporting. I think I enjoyed it more than she did. Got a fully signed shirt framed and on the wall.

Had to turn down the chance of my son being mascot for the spurs v Birmingham game this sunday. Couldn't justify the cost of it, as I am currently out of work and with christmas and his birthday coming up as well. Least i know he is near the top of the waiting list now.
Obviously i didn't tell him. He met the players at the training ground earlier this season and is on the front cover of the latest JSM newsletter with Dawson, so he's not had it bad this year!
