It doesn't matter how great the goalie is - if a team defends as shite as we have done so far this season they will let goals in. Ramos could go out and sign Buffon and he'd look like a buffoon behind out defence in no time.

Sort the defence out and you will see a rejuvenated Robbo.

Boruc is way way better than 'anything' else in England, anyway. Whever get's him will be a step closer to the Premiership Title....in one foul swoop! He is better in so many ways despite his current 'disease' in the SPL. COYS!

Gordens was rated a better keeper when he was with Hearts, and he has been droped by Sunderland! Might be able to ket him on the keep if they go down

dont we need a new keeper if Robbo stays as No.1 or not? Ceny away at the end of the season?

Abbondanzzieri: cheap and much better than Robbo...and Casillas. The best goalkeeper in the Spanish League.

No he's not Casillas is. If hunter says he's the best thats good enough for me. Cech, Buffon, Casillas. none else gets close

Abbondanzzieri is a terrific keeper. But I can't help but notice that Robbo has improved out of sight since Ramos has come in and more importantly, since he was dropped as England keeper. He's looked like a proper keeper the last few games, and I'm speaking as someone who repeatedly wanted Jol to drop him.

Ah we need experience this is true - unfortunately the more mature the asset, the less profit one can derive from selling it on. So says Mr. Levy and his little book of Footy Clubs.

 It's an odd theory isn't it. If we kept more clean sheets and was a more organsied defense becasue there was an old but brillaint GK behind them, the value of the younger players playing in that more organised and meaner defence, would go up by proxy. The alternative is buying a young GK who makes mistakes, loses points and then the poor form of the team would reflect in ther individuals values.

12 months ago Dawson was worht way more than the 4-8 m we paid. Now we're a poorer side whats his value? I wonder if Carrick would still ahve been worth 18m if it hadn't have been fro a season playing with old davids. I wonder if Ledley would have become world class and jumped from a 15m player to a "name your price you still can't have him" player, if we hadn't have signed the intrinsically valuless Naybet!?

shall i call Levy?

Please, don't put Casillas next to those names. It hurts my eyes. And I am Spanish. Casillas apart from shotstopping and one vs one is average or very mediocre.
Getafe have a certain Ustari, another Youtube type of keeper like Casillas, and he can't get a game because Abbondanzzieri is there. Give me a commanding and intelligent goalkeeper over a shotstopper any time.
Casillas is the improved version of Given, another keeper that the further you stay away from him the better. Since Casillas has been at Real Madrid they have never had a reliable defense. Casillas is yet to be the goalkeeper conceading less goals in the Spanish League.

So what if he's 35? I don't understand all this "building for the future" crap. Man Utd won the league last season with a goalie older than that. If he keeps clean sheets, then great.

Behind arguably the best CB pairing in the league. Just as well, because VDS was looking distinctly shaky at times.

But I was being somewhat sarcastic.

Unless they feel the drop in performance will just encourage bidders. Or the drop will lower the share price which will make aquiring shares easier. Are the two even related?

No, share price has risen as we've slid down the table. There was a nice graph illustrating this on TopSpurs.

Then it just encourages bidders. That's what a rising share price proves, right?

Yeah, being young and Scottish had nothing to do with that. Boruc is a better a keeper. I would take him in a heartbeat.

last season's Boruc was good but this season's Boruc has let in some real bad goals and has been criticised for some of them and it all behing his fault, not down to a poor defending or any of that

dont think he would be a huge improvment if an improvment at all  good player though

Boruc isnt better than Gordon IMHO.Mcgregor is better than both of them.Going back to the holy goalie, Boruc is on the last year of his contarct and could well do Webster and move in January for a reduced fee in the region of 200k.
Stekelenberg is a great keeper but at 5 million,id rather have a left back and left winger.Get rid of Robbo in the summer.

That must be why he's first choice ahead of Gordon for Scotland.

Yep, get rid of Robbo, but fuck a replacement GK for 5m, get a LB.
