Turnover should be around 400m next year. New stadium, world class training ground. Champions league squad. world class season ticket prices too.

How do y'all feel about that?

There is no reason why we cant pay our best players 250k to 300k a week now. Apart from people like Ronaldo, Messi or Sanchez. Everyone else should be attainable. Including dare I say it, Bale!

I would like to see Vertonghen, Lloris, Kane and Alderweireld given new contracts straight away to keep this team together. Then we should be in the market for some elite players in the summer. There are no excuses now.

It would take a few years to pay of the stadium though. I doubt Levy will sanction any 300k a week contracts until that's done.

But yes, we're definitely starting to close the financial gap to the other top teams.

250-300k per week is obscene and it is time for a wage cap worldwide for the sake of the sport.

Even capped at 200k is obscene and if you are not happy with that as a wage for playing a sport you need to have a long hard look at yourself as it means you are a greedy fecker.

That equates to 104 million over a 10 year career insane figures

In addition to agreeing with @nicdic about the overall strategy, the discussion is very premature.

There's no way to assess the medium-term financial state of the club until (1) the housing and hotel developments have been constructed and sold off and (2) the residual short-term debt for the stadium (after reducing it with any profit made on the housing and hotel) has been refinanced as long-term debt.

Those two factors will depend on the state of the housing and borrowing markets a few years from now. They represent two large-scale, macro-economic risks to the development that can be managed, but not eliminated.

I feel physically sickened every time an obscene amount of money is mentioned in relation to football.

Firstly, minor point, Sanchez is nowhere near the level of Messi or Ronaldo. United got mugged off if they are paying him £600k per week!

Secondly, we will have a very large debt to service. I presume that this will be greater than half a billion pounds. Belts will be tight for a while, depending on what naming rights and other sponsorship deals Levy can get us.

But, lastly, you are correct - we will finally be recognised as a top tier team! Keeping our best players is key to that.

Whilst it's unrealistic to expect a sudden mega-money splurge, at the very least we should be giving our top players a salary increase at the end of this season. No point having a huge shiny stadium with the most expensive ticket prices in the country if we can't keep hold of our best players.

We wont be recognised as a top tier team till we start winning things.

Restricting earning potential amounts to indentured servitude, regardless of profession.

Footballers only earn the money they do because of the value we place on their skillsets, it's also why plumbers can make three times as much as architects in London

And I'm sure they will, we've been given year on year, sometimes even 6 monthly increases when performance has warranted. But the increase is always going to be small and gradual, dictated by the club and the player, not the media.

A wage cap should never be introduced in any industry, its ridiculous to suggest that an individual can only earn x amount of money just because some people think its too much.

Have you seen NBA contracts since the salary cap went up two summers ago?

If you can negotiate a large contract, good for you.

If someone tried to limit my earnings they better be prepared for a fight.

It will take at least 10 years to be classed as one of Europe's elite clubs.

Plus we need to win a trophy first.

Is there crude ITK on the debt levels we will have, once the stadium build is complete?

Will a good naming rights deal service the debt payments ? (assuming no dramatic rise in lending rates)

Should have a clearer idea when the financials come out. We have been paying for the stadium over the last few years so very hard to judge at the moment.

We are not one of Europes elite clubs!

We aren’t far off. UEFA coefficient is 19th no idea how uptodate that is though expected higher. If still 19 next season we’d be in pot 3 for the CL if qualify which would be annoying. However most updated European ranking sites have us at 7th-12th. Once the stadium is built the infrastructure is definitely elite. But then we have to win a title domestically and at least get to 1/4 final CL. Still long way to go but growing every season.
