I think the same about the Arshavin deal with Ramos and the Rossi deal with Redknapp

I'd love that to be true, but after 30 seconds of research on Google I can't see any evidence for it.

At points in his tenure I felt he took us as far as he could, the constant sacking of managers, loosing our best players etc but since appointing Poch (his best decision by far) we have been transformed as a club.

Poch being a developmental manager has allowed Levy to work within budget and create a good team meaning we can afford to build our infrastructure to that of a top team and further forward operate with a larger budget once the stadium is complete and mostly paid for.

We've gone from middle table mediocrity to a top four club on the pitch since he took over.

Off the pitch he has created an infrastructure that will be the envy of every club in this country by the time the new stadium is built.

The final part of the jigsaw is the commercial revenue, and I have no doubt now that the Nike deal is the first of many that will have us on par with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, and close enough to United and City to genuinely compete in the next 5 years.

The current marketing profile of our club is outstripping our rivals, we're everywhere, and a large percentage of youngsters are now supporting us to provide the fans of the future.

What he has achieved is sustainable growth and that will assure our position in the elite for many years to come.

Forget about one-off incidents and focus on the bigger picture and then you can finally embrace the BsoDL.

I voted No. I respect that which he has accomplished over the years. His tight fisted approach at times is frustrating.

I have come to think of late that he lacks that winning mentality.... I qualify this by the present. Its abundantly clear that we have a gem of a manager at the helm, who over the last 2 seasons has had us competing for the title. We are desperately close to winning the PL and needed that injection of quality players...2 possibly 3 and we would genuinely compete from the outset.

We all know of the new kit deal. New tv deal money. New AIA deal etc... Those funds could be used in existing areas.....for the life if me I cannot understand why we cannot use the money from player sales this season to buy 3 top targets. Scratching in the bargain basket is not what im referring too.

There is the Bentaleb, Carrol,Walker,Njie,Fazio and possibly Wimmer and Sissoko cash which would easily generate £120 million in sales.

Renivesting that or having identified our targets ( like everton have done) early and got them in a good preseason is the ideal. It is here that i think Levy lacks the winning mentality....we are so close to that title...it needs a leader who sees it. Believes it and makes it happen.

I think he's the best chairman in English football... Transformed this club in every facet. We used to not even be a laughing stock, just a non entity that no one gave a shit about. Now we're the envy of the league, as well as being very progressive, and making us cool again.

There's just a classiness about us now.

I'm short and bald (ing), so I guess that answers that one. I will be having a chat with my Mum next time I see her :shifty:

In all seriousness though it's hard to argue with salient points that Levy and ENIC on a holistic level haven't been good for the club. Yes, there have been many mistakes and false dawns but overall the club has been on an upwards trajectory since the takeover. We're actually challenging for the fucking league for the first time since I was knee high to a badgers bollock (not that much taller now :() and I'm 40 tomorrow.

Could it have been done quicker and could the mistakes have been foreseen and avoided, of course, but I don't think without either an oligarch billionaire investor who would have ripped the soul out of our club and/or the ability to crystal ball the future.

The biggest mistake Levy made in my eyes was the Jol sacking, it was the wrong time, method and also the wrong successor was lined up.

Overall though the club I love is in a better place than it has been in my lifetime and that is down in no small part to the great balded one, whose feet we should all worship ;)

The thing is Walker has only just gone and is the main bulk of that total, So has N'Jie and Fazio, Wimmer and Sissoko haven't been sold yet, and no guarantee they will unless we get the right offer.

Unfortunately I haven't the patience to try and remember the message I typed in the ITK forum, and unfortunately I can't copy it as I no longer have access, my own fault for going off subject trying to argue people's reasons for not signing players, was trying to kind of back @Stoof up, as he was being quoted everywhere:(

But the main was we had a great league season, and you can't cover for every player that might pick up a knock, because you don't know who is going to get injured, and we haven't got the finances to accommodate a 25 man squad on wages these players that would need to be in everyone's eyes good enough to compete

I'm a BsoDL and the reasons are

Without him we would most probably still be a mid table team and had never seen the nights of any CL football.

We would still be training in a run down Chigwell complex

We wouldn't be looking at having over a 61k seated stadium, so that one day we will hope that we will be able to compete with every aspect the 5 teams above us in the rich list have, though that might not be in my lifetime:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yes he has made mistakes, made up excuses, but he has managed to get us where we are today, going forwards and not sitting in the middle of the table looking up and dreaming "1 day we will challenge".

Ive never bought the idea of us being the 6th best team because our finances dictate that. If anything our last 2 seasons performances dispel this myth. Interestingly so many posters (BSoDL) propogated this line endlessly over the years.

We have an excellent chairman. An exceptional manager with a great team. Some really outstanding players. As a core 11 the likes of which i have not seen in my 27yrs of supporting Spurs. I just would like him to spend this windows Sales money on some exceptional so that we trully compete.

Making up the numbers is no longer an option.

I know I put "So has N'Jie and Fazio" just after that I put Wimmer and Sissoko.

think it was a reply to you that got me banned, all it means now is i'll have to start working more often and hope it's busy enough to not sit there hour on end. as the saying goes if you can't do the time, don't commit the crime:(, but understand why A&C loses it in there after nearly 7 years, unfortunately I'm terribly defensive, and with the way we are as a team I don't see the panic, so in the end, I ended up posting a BSoDL defensive post or 2 (might of even been 3 in that actual thread), in hope it might quieten down the attackers.

but to buy someone exceptional, you need a spot in the team that's weak enough that needs that upgrade, at the moment the only weakness would be Dembele because of his injury issues, and Winks still only coming through, and Poch not trying Onamah, and "oh wait perhaps we ain't that weak there".

we are now in a position where providing they are all fit we know our strongest XI -12, last season in the league we drew a lot of games around the time we had a pretty bad time with key injuries. we lost 4 games 1 to Chelsea, no Toby or Rose, 2nd to Man U no injuries that day, then Liverpool, no Rose, then Wet Spam. All 4 games are tough away games, 3 being top 6 rivals, and the other just seems to find the form of their lives in their cup final against us.

if your Chelsea, or the Manc clubs with their finances they can have a squad of 22 quality players, because they have so much more money coming in than us, and richer owners, they can afford to pay stupid wages, we cannot compete with them on the wages front, and unfortunately we cannot compete with them on the signing fees. also if the player is that good, our interest being too public means they all of a sudden become more interested and gazump us (Chelsea).

to really compete we need to have enough financial muscle to do so, the last 2 seasons we have over achieved deservedly, and bar Walker we have kept this squad pretty strong to compete and hopefully over achieve a 3rd season running

I lost my access for being a silly arse and posting a picture (I think) when I was bantering with A&C. That was related to BSoDL and ADUO.

Sucks being out of the loop...

Hell no it definitely was not me that you replied too. Other than today i seldom if ever post there. Ratings sometimes give the same message, so i stick to those.

Not much happening on the transfer front so you missing nothing..... Turkish 69 went crazy in there the other day and got his access back.

Some of the frustrations on Levy's tight arsedness on transfers needs to be taken in context. I used to work in a legal firm that did transfer contracts years ago and some of the deals were just ridiculous. We'd rewrite contracts numerous times because of special conditions and ridiculous add ons. You knew some of the conditions would never be met. I remember one particular one with a PL club where the agent made more then the selling club and player combined. Often the deals that the agent came to the club in the first instance (a lot of players are shopped around to start with) and the one you ended up with once the other club got involved, were miles apart. You had to make sure you did'nt get ripped off. DL does a good job for us, trust me. If the other side moans you know you've squeezed them hard.
