What about the games where Sane/Sterling/De Bruyne/Silva/etc. don't produce? Over the past couple of years it's been more than our guys.

@talkshowhost86 's got a point. Sterling can be a bit erratic and unreliable (but he's better without the ball than Son and Alli) , but when DeBruyne isn't scoring or assisting he is still giving a team hell of alot more than Son does. Silva's been playing as a CM in their CM3 (as has DeBruyne sometimes)

Son's performances are inconsistent even on his productive days. He's capable of the sublime but really struggles with the simple a lot of the time. As does Alli.

Delighted with the squad.

Assuming everyone's available my strongest XI would be :

Lloris
Sanchez, Toby, Jan,
Aurier, Wanyama,Dembele,Rose,
Eriksen, Alli
Kane

At Some point in season, I would like to see 3-5-2 with Kane & Llorente up top. If its a EFL cup, would like to see Janssen & Llorente playing to gether. I believe both Kane & Janssen could benefit of playing alongside Llorente...

I think both Kane and Janssen can benefit from playing along side Llorente.

I am cautiously optimistic that Janssen training with Llorente will be a huge benefit. Llorente has produced everywhere he has played. Would hope that Janssen would pay attention to how Llorente works and asks about all the dirty little tricks you learn across a long productive career.

It's a good squad that is certainly better than last seasons but having said that we still haven't addressed our main weakness which was depth on the flanks and the number 10 position. We may struggle to play 4231 at will and if Lamela doesn't recover we will really miss Eriksen if he gets injured.

TL;DR - Yes. We upgraded positions. We have a wingback that will attack the box and attackers. A potential WC center half whos 21, a friend for Lamela, a proven champions league CF, and a 3rd GK. Add that to a squad that has matured together and grown together, we are breeding a team and culture the right way. Some may say Toby is the most important person to sign, Pochettino needs Pardew Newcastle contract with a statue now. Build the culture and cultivate a philosophy, I couldn't be happier. We struggle in August frequently, but we really push on in October. Once we settle and adjust, I expect us to really be pushing on and challenging as we usually do.

If we can land Barkley and Sessegnon in January, I really expect us to challenge for the title. The teams I see us struggling against when we are in stride:

1. Tony Pulis Teams - look at every season ever. God we cant break that fort down.
2. Man City - We've crushed them recently, but they have addressed a lot of issues and I see them being unstoppable in stride. If not, Pep is a farce.
3. Man U - Mourinho knows how to win, and he has the pieces he needs to win minus a CB and a Wingback that abuses women or looks like marcus from taken. I see them being a tough out.
4. Liverpool - I want to believe we can beat them, but they are rapid. I have nightmares of Salah from Basel, Chelsea, Roma, and Fiorentina. I just hope we are in stride when we play them.

With that in mind, we should finish top 4, and challenge. You don't see Chelsea here because they seem fragile - granted Hazard isn't their squad, but Conte has a record of crashing and burning after success. Pair that with the Chelsea revolving door, meltdown is near.

I am happy.

While I think we'd all be happier with a pressing attacking WF or some more depth for a CAM, this has been a really solid window, all things considered, we weren't active until August. Windows unfortunately get graded up front on paper, but don't show true value for minimally a season or two. So this is a pre-judgemental post. Everything comes with analyzing the situation - the biggest being the idea that we don't have the ability to spend what other clubs do, and if we do, its not frequent. This is simply because Spurs are still a business that operate in the profit, and do a really good job doing so. Say what you will about Levy, but I don't ever foresee us being a Leeds or a Pompey, and thank god for that. So:

a. Kyle Walker (50m) and Kevin Wimmer (18m) for Davinson Sanchez (42m) and Serge Aurier (23m) - Paper analysis. You can make the argument that both are neither proven nor prem ready. Financially, we just got younger and cheaper. If Mauricio Pochettino has proven anything in his time managing in the premier league, these are the people he has managed that were sold a season or two playing for him. Trying to show that these players performed tremendously with Mauricio.

1. Luke Shaw - Man U 30m in 2014
2. Dejan Lovren - Liverpool 20m in 2014
3. Calum Chambers - Arsenal 16m in 2014
4. Nathaniel Clyne - Liverpool 12.5m in 2015
5. Kyle Walker - Man City 50m in 2017

Equally, we can take away that these players truly only succeeded under Poch. Long story short, I expect really tremendous growth for both Sanchez and Aurier. I love that we have a South American player (its big for Lamela and plays a larger unspoken role) an a former Ajax player (they clearly produce very good talent), and Aurier is an upgrade in my eyes. He is ruthless on the pitch and proves a point. He embodies the Pochettino philosophy, and I can't wait to see what he is capable of. In fact, our best performances last year relied on our LWB and RWB pressing forward and building play. This may not be "what we want" or the "biggest need", but these are upgrades none the less, saving 3m in transfer fees (NUTS!?). Overall, this is a 8.5/10, only because neither have played in the prem.

b. Fernando Llorente - Proven player. I wanted him when he was at Bilbao 6 years ago. This has sentimental value. Will prove great under Mauricio. If Ricky Lambert was a good scorer with Poch, this guy could be class.

c. Juan Foyth - the Lamela signing. Got a friend and an Argentine to breed and help implement Poch's energy into the Argentina team. This is a whatever signing and doesn't make much difference in my opinion.

d. Gazzinaga - See above.

All in all, I think we are going to be as good as last year, if not better. We need to be patient and watch our still INSANELY youthful team settle.

I think people are underestimating the value of having a battering-ram type like Llorente. He will win balls in the box, he will create scrappy goals and he will also give us so much more production from our bench. I feel like he's really going to be a huge signing.

Happy except concerned about lack of depth in AM3 and at 8, esp first half of the season with a fair few midweek games.

Dembele can't manage two games, alli suspended, lamela recovering (no guarantee there). Relying a lot on winks, GKN, and sissoko to step up in significant matches, and/or having to do the dier / wanyama double act which is usually not that effective.

We have more flexibility which is great, (esp llorente and Sanchez) but still may struggle with quality when we are forced to rotate the AM3 and Dembele, or heaven forbid, cop injuries to our key players there.

Barkley injury was a real problem as he would have been great cover if he were fit and signed up. Placing all our eggs in the balde basket was also a bit optimistic in hindsight, and really left us scrambling to find a decent affordable option who would come to us. So not up in arms that we are caught a bit short but I still think that part of the squad looks very vulnerable covering both league and CL matches.

Hope the first 11 are up for a bit of work in the next fee months!

We have strengthened the starting eleven and we have strengthened the bench. What's there not to like about this window? We got rid of the players we didn't want or couldn't get into the first eleven regularly and we got an overall net gain from all the transfers. There's also rumours that we will get some of our other intended targets within the next two windows.

The number of new players is about just right for one window. If there are too many new players in one window, it would take a longer time for the newbies to settle down in the team.

Well done DL & Poch.

Relatively pleased. I've always really liked Llorente since we nearly signed him years ago and echo the weird sentimentality around him. He turned the window for me.

Aurier looks a beast if he can keep his nose clean but there is an element of risk - he does look even more of a liability than Walker as a prankster and Ashley Cole esque in general irksomeness. If he's as good as Cole, that will obviously be overlooked.

Sanchez is big and fast and should mean Jan/Toby can get some rest. Gazzaniga was necessary after Lopez and we won't get a lot better as 3rd keeper. Foyth I can't see playing much anytime soon.

As with everyone else, the lack of creativity/pace is a concern but obviously Poch thinks Lamela and Winks coming back will be like two new players.

All that was required was to upgrade Sissoko to a player who could compete for a starting place

Yep, very happy. Kept the core together, built the squad out a bit, good work all round. Now let's put those side show behind us and start getting results!

It will be interesting to see what opportunities Marcus Edwards gets this season, especially as we did not sign Barkley, we may see some cameos from the bench.

Very happy with our core business. Bit disappointed about Sancho and would have liked Benjamin Henrichs too as a couple of seriously talented youngsters.

At the end of last season, the general consensus seemed to be that we had the best starting XI in the Premier League, but lacked depth. We've now added depth, so I would expect most people to be fairly content.

Our squad isn't perfect, but neither is anyone else's.
